How Long Do iCloud Emails Get Kept For?

I'm trying to find an old email I sent back in 2008, are old emails deleted after a certain time?

Not server side, only if you have an old TimeMachine backup or something similar.

Thanks Andy so when I log into my iCloud account it will only show emails from say 2013 and none before. So old emails are automatically being deleted by the system?

No, it'll show emails from as far back as they go. Your question suggested you wanted to recover an email lost seven years ago, so I assumed a deleted email.

Use the search if you haven't deleted them. Bear in mind in 2008 it was MobileMe I think? not iCloud.

OK thanks I have used the search facility and there is nothing going back that far. Maybe when the Mobile Me to Apple icloud transfer took place some emails were deleted. Nothing can be done now. Live and learn should have made back up copies.

If it's that important you find an email from seven years ago just contact the person that sent it, probably easier than searching back that far with no backups.

My e-mails from then day I signed up for MobileMe in 2008 are all still there.
