I want to buy the new rMBP from them since it's no sales tax for CA, but I only see preorders and there's only one 1TB SSD model.. how long does it typically take for them to get them in? And do they generally have a wide range of builds or just a few?

I'd call B&H Photo and ask.

A number of years ago I worked at an Apple Authorized Reseller, and they rarely stocked the special configs, but they'd order them if you were interested.

I ordered mine from B&H last Tuesday (2.5 GHz/ M370X/ 1 TB) and today the preorder status changed to "in stock and on its way to the warehouse for shipping". Saving 8.75% on Cali tax makes for a great deal

Yes, but I hear B&H, which I LOVE for camera stuff, won't accept any open box returns on computers. I was going to buy my new MBP there to save all the tax, but it's too big of a risk if I find I don't like the machine.

They are definitely the kings of customer service for photo gear. They will take computers back if defective but not for a change of mind unless unopened.

This came up in the last few weeks within this forum, and a member posted an Apple link that explains the return policy from authorized retailers -- Apple will extend the same 14 day return policy to you even if you buy from an authorized retailer like B&H, which ought to cover an open box "I changed my mind", although you'd likely pay a restocking fee. Not sure where to find that link, but it appears very legit.

Edit: Found the link:

Apple Policy on U.S. Reseller Returns:

You can return to Apple, but maybe not an Apple Store.
