It takes mine about 2 or 3 mins after the first backup..
I'm just curious because I've seen people complaining that it takes 20 or 30 mins to backup their iPods... 😕

My 16GB iPhone w/ oh say.. 7 apps takes maybe 20 seconds or less. No kidding.. My iPhone was put into this world by Jobs himself. 🙂

My 32GB Touch with 20+ GB of music, a couple movies, and about 12 apps takes less than a minute to backup

Yes, it takes under 5 mns for me, but I have only about 15 songs on my touch and a few podcasts and one video. I know people who carry their whole music collection of several thousands songs....I bet it takes them longer! So, is this a question that can be answered meaningfully without further info?

Well I've posted on two sites. Here and iPod Touch fans. On IPF the majority of the people say it takes 2-3hrs to back up. Here the majority of the people say it takes less then 5mins. So I'm guessing having a little more info would be nice...I have 665 songs and about 19 or so apps and it takes less then 30secs now to backup.

My 8GB iPod touch with 450 songs, 5 movies and 20 apps takes around 10 minutes to do the backup. Then it takes another 5 minutes to sync 😱

Like... really F***ing long!
I have a 6Gen 80GB iPod and it acts like how a Windows 98 on crack would after a curious little 12 year old boy who just did his first porn search that lasted 3 hours, especially when I try to sync it.
Well... depending on how much music I'm putting on that wasn't there before.
If I sync all my music and it has nothing on it, it then takes about... hmmm... I have never tried that but I think it will take a really long time considering I have 60GB of music.
BUT I JUST PLUGGED IT IN AND IT WON'T EVEN SHOW UP IN iTUNES, AND IT'S BEEN PLUGGED IN FOR LIKE 30 MINUTES!
Ugh, >.<

I've a 16 gig Touch with about 14 gig of "stuff" on it. Backup takes 5-10 secs, with the whole sync taking far under a min. I never timed it. Can't understand why people have these huge times.

I have an 8 GB iPod touch, usually, with the first syncing of the day, it will take my iPod about 2-3 minutes to back it up, but last night when I synced it, it took over 50 minutes just to do the backup, yet alone the sync. And the only difference was that I installed 2 free apps on the iPod and downloaded a song (also on the iPod), hardly anything that should make it that long. Apple should make a way for this to go faster or optional.

Both my Touch and my iPhone 3G take about 30-45 minutes. I've got about 50 apps installed on the phone, 40 on the Touch. I've disabled backups in iTunes because the delay is just not worth it to me.

about 30 minutes before it is done, and thats only 10 apps, and 6 gig of assorted stuff

lol, good ol Windows 98

WTF? I have 28 GB of the 30 GB available on my Touch and it only takes me about 30 seconds to back-up my Touch when I plug it in.

What's wrong with all your chit?

EDIT: I take that back. Now that I installed 3 "pages" worth of apps on my iPod Touch this most recent back-up is taking me 10-15 minutes. The one previous to this only took a minute. What gives?

my question is also where is it backing up too ... HD ? 🙄
Mark

yes... essentially a folder/location known to itunes. anyways, my backups take less than a minute. just do the backup the first time and unless you totally change a bunch of things, the next backup should be quick.

Jeez, how full is that 8GB iPod?

I'd say maybe halfway full.
450 songs would only take up about 2GBs.
And the 5 movies don't take much if you convert them for a smaller quality which takes up less space.
It he bought them off of iTunes then they're going to take up plenty of room.
And most apps are only a few mbs.
