The battery on my 5s isn't lasting as long as it used to - I usually have to plug it in when I get home from work, when it used to go all day without a problem. I'd love to have the battery replaced, but I don't want to be without it for days. Is this something that the Apple store can do in an afternoon, or do they have to send it out?
 
I had a 4S battery change in literally 10 minutes.

The girl came back and was "buffing" the phone with an antistatic cloth.

The problem was still present, though (phone would turn off with about 20% of battery life remaining).

It was a hardware issue.

It was actually one of many issues, and after liaising with customer relations they upgraded it to an iPhone 5 which was a touch ...
