The battery on my 5s isn't lasting as long as it used to - I usually have to plug it in when I get home from work, when it used to go all day without a problem. I'd love to have the battery replaced, but I don't want to be without it for days. Is this something that the Apple store can do in an afternoon, or do they have to send it out?

I had a local independent iPhone Service Center replace my battery while I waited. It took just a bit over ten minutes. The charge was $38.00.

Our local Apple Store replaced my better half's 5S battery in less than an hour with a battery you know is Apple's own.

I had a 4S battery change in literally 10 minutes.

The girl came back and was "buffing" the phone with an antistatic cloth.

The problem was still present, though (phone would turn off with about 20% of battery life remaining).

    It was a hardware issue.

It was actually one of many issues, and after liaising with customer relations they upgraded it to an iPhone 5 which was a touch ...

This was my experience as well. Dropped it off and came back an hour later.
