How long does syncing music take? 2hrs+ for me so far....

It's taken me over 2 hours to sync just 47 songs and it's still going.... says "Sync Pending...." Not sure why.
 
So I have 10,000 songs on my phone. There's no way my watch will hold all that...what is it syncing? Playlists? I don't want music on my watch.

yes, you can only sync playlists and not by artists etc however once that playlist is sync you can see the usual artists, albums etc on the watch

You can skip it. I have no music or photos and at the moment do not plan to have any. My music is Spotify and I have verified you can control the songs (skip, pause, volume) with the now playing glance so I'm good.
 
Are you on wifi? I'm guessing that would make it faster it's a little nuts if they force it all through Bluetooth
 
Check your Wi-Fi strength in the house where your WATCH is, along with your iPhone. Mine took about 10 minutes to do about 1GB or 125 songs.
