Just wondering how other peoples iPod batteries life are.

My 4G 20GB iPod battery last about 6-7 hours off of a full charge. All my songs are ripped at ACC 228kbps. My iPod is only 1 month old too. Its a refurb one cause my first 4G 20GB died.

well, I've never actually used my iPod stright through till it died, but I can use my 4G 20gig all day at work, but this includes pausing it to help customers and answer the phone, and I usually charge it every other day. The one time I ran it till it died it was not stright through, but it actually ran for about 45 min with the battery meter totally empty.

Ever since I swapped out my 1G iBook's stock battery and stuck in one of OWC's high-capacity batteries, I think I can get about 15 hours or so per charge. It might be more, I don't really pay that much attention. Since I only play it when I'm in the car, it'll go two weeks or more before I have to think about recharging it. Total night and day from the old battery!

I used to get quite a few hours out my Ipod 3G. But now it is down to about 2-3 hours at most.. :(

iPod

On my 1g iPod which I ordered the day it was announced, I am still getting in the range of 4-6 hrs. Use it at least 2 hrs 5 days a week.

One of the best tech investemnts I ever made.

Man... my iPod lasts no where near as long as I'd like it to. I bought a 3G refurbished last August (almost 8 months now) and the battery probably can't break 5 hours... That's just a guess because I've never actually timed or run it straight through. But when the battery is full, the bars start dropping pretty fast...

I've thought about selling it and getting a 1GB shuffle or a 2G mini, but I'm not sure how much it would sell for. Any guesses as to price for a 15GB 3G w/ dock, remote, Apple carrying case, and a Speck skin? It's not scratched up too much

If I keep it, I'll try to get a high-capacity battery whenever they're made..

yeah i seem to only get like 3 to 4 hours on my 1st gen mini. if i dont have it on the charger every day, its pretty much worthless. im kinda bummed about it.

If you want another good investment, check out that OWC high-capacity 2100mAh replacement battery for the 1&2G! You'll be amazed at the difference in battery life...

Wow...almost makes me wish I had a 2G iPod instead of a 3G....

that's the one for the 3g. damn three year warranty; otherwise i'd have bought one by now. about 5hrs listening to 128k music; 3-4 when listening to 192-256kbps

Yeah, but that one's 850 mAh...I want my iPod to rock the 2100! :D OTOH I still seem to get 6-8 hours for 128kbps...I haven't timed it that carefully, but I only need to recharge it once a weekish. Speaking of which...today is a good day.

8-9 hours off a 2nd Gen 10 GB :)

'Course, most of the music is 128 kbps AAC or MP3.. But still that's not bad at all :)

20gig 3G iPod, 16 months old approximately, get somewhere north of 5 hours (probably around 7, but I've never run it until it is dead). It handled the whole flight to Hawaii earlier this year.

Of course I let it trickle-charge for a while before the flight - if I disconnect it when it first reports "charged" then I probably get more like 4-5 hours.

havnt done any real tests on my 3G 30GB iPod... but it lasts for a long time, i'll tell ya that. I just got it replaced for the second time under warrenty a few months ago...

I tested my 1G mini, bought Feb 2004, some weeks ago and got 9 hrs continous play from one playlist...

...about half the songs aac@128, while the rest ~30% mp3@128, ~30% mp3@160, ~30% mp3@192 and the remaining ~10% mp3>200...

My 4G iPod will last about two days of uni before it needs a charge. That's probably between 8-10 hours of actual play time albeit a lot of the time at the absolute lowest volume possible.

Maybe 4 or 5 hours on a good day. sometimes it seems like only 2 hours. I have the backlight set to 5 seconds for whenever I change something (I can see it better that way) and I skip through songs a lot, so maybe thats why the battery seems to die quickly.

Oh, I've got a silver mini. Not sure what generation.

on a 24 hour drive from Minnneapolis area to Vermont, my ipod lasted 8.5 hours, then later 9 hours.

This was playing straight through with skipping only a few songs. The Encode level on my songs is not uniform to say the least. Some are converted WMA files so the encode level is quite low (because of ripped Internet radio songs).

My Ipod is a 15G 3G Dock
