my 3G 30GB runs for about 4-5 hrs on a full charge. My songs are ripped at 128 kbps AAC.

I get the same result on my 30 GB DG-- 4-5 hours-- probably more on the "4" side.. Kind of disappointing; if it drops much more I'm going to replace with one of the OWC replacements.

my 4g that i bought in november of last year gets about what it's supposed to, 8 hours. i did notice last month it would only get about half that, but i completely drained the battery and recharged and now its back to an 8 hour life. i had been using it for 2 or 3 hours and then completely recharging it again. i don't know if that causes temporary battery loss or what, but a complete drain seemed to do the trick.

i changed my iPod's battery indicator into a numeric number -- usually mine starts out between 475-490 on a full charge. supposedly a new iPod on a full charge will hit 510-530. its a nifty little trick, theres an article about changing it here: http://playlistmag.com/weblogs/todayatplaylist/2005/04/numberbattery/index.php?lsrc=mwrss-0405

I get just slightly under 16 hours on my Shuffle. I only listen to it about an hour every day except for weekends, so I can almost go a month without having to rechange it. Not too shabby if you ask me!
