iPhone 4s with iOS 8.2 running perfect, and the original battery still holding the all day with moderate use.

iPhone SE with 9.3.5 with OTA blocked by tvOS beta 10 profile without jailbreak here :)

It will be for sure last update I did here. iOS 10 is killer for every phone except iPhone 7. It may be working faster on newer OS version but battery was ruined...

108 cycles and 96-97% capacity. So it's quite ok :)

My 4s with 7.1.2 is still running good. Its battery just replaced last year (not in apple store nor apple service center). My wife's iphone 6 is still going strong with IOS 8.2 (jailbroken) and very responsive as well. I even still have 3gs used by my daughter, running IOS 6 and still functional as a phone and basic smartphone which is still sufficient for her.

Even though it is recommended by apple and many security expert to update the OS to the latest due to security risk, I dont really buy in the idea. Possibly its security breach can happen but at very minimal rate (I havent heard it in practical daily life); also my phone do not contain extremely high confidential data either.

[doublepost=1479111594][/doublepost]Yes correct. In Indonesia (where I lived) there are few small workshops that can replaced soaked iphone battery with very reasonable price (about $20-$30). They replaced with used battery but with just few cycles (mine is about 90 cycles) and they will not upgrade the OS :)

Good to read of others continuing to use their old phones on older iOS with success.

Like you, I stay to the straight and narrow when it comes to using the web on my phone. I never do any banking or other sensitive stuff from my phone.

And I'm mindful of this when traveling or vacationing too...joining to their Wifi networks, specifically.

So while my phone 9.0.2 and my older ipad2 on 7.1.2 are theoretically exploitable, in practice...it wasn't happened yet. Knock on wood.

And even if I do get 'hacked', my only exposure is my CC which is solved with a quick call to AMEX.

When apple changes the battery they do not upgrade the software. they never upgrade software without asking your permission first.
