The display backlight and keyboard backlight have a huge impact on MBA battery life. I've found I can get nearly 5 hours if I turn off keyboard backlight and keep the display backlight at a reasonable, low level.

I get abaut 4,5 hours when doing light things like surfing web or reading email. It'll be even 6 hours if I switch to better battery life mode and use processor preference pane to disable another cpu.

2.5 hours when using vmware fusion w/ fans at 6200, max keyboard light, auto brightness.

4+ hours with just wifi, typing, in class, etc.

5+ hours no wifi just reading articles, etc.

What is the "processor preference pane"?

I spend a lot of time doing light web stuff -- it sounds like something that would add some battery life for me.

My current MBA was purchased on Monday, August 18, '08, and when I run it on CoconutBattery 2.6.3 and my iStatsPro I'm seeing similar stats, but neither says 100% healthy. And though I just bought my MBA on Monday, it says it's 3 months old. SN#W8823 = 23 Week 2008.

I get about 3-4 hours usually with music playing all the time while browsing, downloading, and doing papers
