Just got a refurbished iPhone through an upgrade, and after entering the serial number it states that the telephone customer support expired, and the repairs warranty runs out in the fall of 2012. Shouldn't it be a year like regular phones?

It should be. There should be a link to dispute when the warranty ends after you type in the serial number, you need to scan/fax them the receight and then they fix it up for you. (they being apple).
