I am planning on joining the Apple Upgrade program when the 7 comes out. I will be interested to see how long people who purchased their 6S phones with the upgrade program in 2015 have to wait until they can actually upgrade. Will they be able to pre-order or will they have to come in to the store for an employee to verify that the 6S is in good condition and/or the 12th payment on the phone has been processed? With this year being the first year that people can upgrade with the program, I hope that it is an easy process; since I will probably be in the same boat next year for the 8 or whatever it will be called.

The 12th payment (if you got your 6s on day 1) would have a month in the past. I just read an article in ZDNet where you need to make a reservation just like we did a year ago for day 1 if you want it then, set up a new loan in the store when you get there (the trade in will cancel your old loan), and you should be set.

That's my understanding and my plan. I could be all wet since we don't have tons of guidance from Apple as usual!

Thanks for your reply. I would have thought the 12th payment would have been right around when the new iPhone comes out, since I thought you would make the 1st payment a month after you received it. I hate that I will have to go into the store to get a phone on the plan. That is a real negative.

Yeah, I'm going to have to check on my payment history now you mention it. I don't recall if we made a payment day one or day '30'. ISTR a lot of payment as part of setting it up. :)

You made the first payment within 72 hours of the day you received the phone. My first payment was Sept 27th, and my 12th payment is Aug. 27th. I received my phone on launch day. I plan on getting the iPhone 7 on launch day via the program.

I thought the first payment was the Applecare only (100+ dollars). I was trying to get in my account at Citizens to verify when I paid what, but now they want me (everyone?) to change passwords and the requirements are insane. I can't make it take anything I enter, lol... On the face of it, it wants one (and only one) upper/lower/number. I assume that means at least one, but it doesn't work with a good password and their selection of special characters.

No the first payment was your first month + taxes on the device. AppleCare is factored into the monthly cost.

Gotcha. Knew the first payment was larger for some reason..

Be nice to be able to change my password at Citizens.. :) The requirements for passwords have changed and now want 'special characters' and do not work. Anyone else seeing this?
