Hi guys,

I've run into some problems after bootcamp failed to remove the Windows partition fully and now I am stuck with my low disk space for Mac OSX (I need approx 5GB to download OSX Mavericks :(, that's how low I am on disk space :().

Anyways, I need to backup my files before I can repair the disk. I started a Time Machine backup for the first time and the estimated time to back up a 365GB partition is 12 hours! Is this normal or well above average?

I'm backing up a 15" i7 MBP using USB 2.0 with a 3.0 cable.

Thanks!

Normal. To back up my 600-700GB originally took me almost 27 hours the first time, but I had a wifi backup. You should always keep up with your backups so that things like this don't happen when awesome new software is released :D

Never understood why time machine backup takes so long compared to a simple copy-paste. 360 Gb first backup would take about 8-10 hours for time machine but would take max 10 minutes to copy normally. Is it the indexing that makes it so long or what?
