I want to restore my iPhone back to original. How long does "delete all contents and settings' take to run? A few seconds? Hours?

OK, I've heard stories of it taking hours but I guess those were old versions?

In the last couple weeks I wiped and sold both an iPhone 4S and an iPad 3 (both with iOS6) ... and each took about two to three minutes tops.

If the phone is jailbroken it will cause the delete option to hang. The best way to make sure everything is wiped from your device is to do a restore in iTunes.

If the phone isn't jailbroken, it should only take a few minutes.

As said, if it's jailbroken, this wont work at all.

The only exception is the anything iPhone 3G or older - it can take hours, since it actually has to delete anything. On the newer phones, it just deletes the encryption keys, then recreates default settings whiles which takes about 2 minutes.
