How long does Apple allow us to add AppleCare+ if we do not add it to the preorder tonight?

You have 30 days, but if it's not bought at the time of purchase, you have to take your device in for an inspection within that 30 days for them to add it to that device.

It's done from the purchase date of the phone/computer so you can't 'add' any time by buying it later.

Regardless of when you buy it it will offer the same cover.

How to get AppleCare+

Add it to your shopping cart during the checkout process when you purchase your new iPhone.

Buy it within 60 days of your iPhone purchase. Your iPhone purchase date is the date we ship and charge you for your order:

At an Apple Retail Store (requires inspection of your iPhone and proof of purchase)

By calling (800) 275-2273 (requires you to run a remote diagnostic and provide proof of purchase)

I didn't notice when it went up, I have applecare+ on my iPhone 5 and i was under the impression that it was still $49. Still gonna get it on the 6 Plus

I think your 5 would be grandfathered into the $49. The 6+ might even be higher than $79, not sure though.

is this basically the same thing as the insurance option with AT&T?

the insurance is 10$ a month, and if i have it for 10+ months, than obviously applecare would be cheaper.

Think I'm getting AppleCare and worth ave for its theft coverage this time around.

as mentioned in post #7, this can be done over the phone now (since last year, actually).
