How long to untethered iOS5 jb?

I could be wrong... But the Jailbreak for iOS 5.0 is only done for iPhone4 because they have a bootrom exploit for the iPhone 4. So yeah, the JB for iOS5 isn't exactly *done* yet, until they try it on a 4S. So who knows...

Unless, does having 5 untether exploits on iOS5 allow them to jailbreak regardless of the device?

Hmm, I could be off, but from what I understand, limera1n, which was developed a little under a year ago, can jailbreak any iOS device going forward. It's that same 'patch' that's been used in recent JB software that has jailbroken devices, but each update, the untether is patched by Apple.

Thus, the real difficulty is not the JB, but the untether. We have had consistent tethered JB for a long time now.

This will probably change with the next iPhone...I assume the bootrom wasn't significantly changed between 4->4S, but the next phone may be a different story. Yeah, limera1n is awesome though. Hopefully an untethered JB will be out within a few days of public release. I still haven't tried iOS5 whatsoever.

I hope so too ... I'm confident they will have the untethered 5 JB by the time the 4S is released (as they can start work now with the 5 GM), but they will conserve it for the 4S hardware, unless for some reason it poses a roadblock.
