Just curious how long you waited before your upgrade M4 Pro order stayed in "processing". I ordered mine (48GB RAM, 10GbE upgrades) on 29 November and on 8 December, it's still "processing", with an estimated delivery date of 13-18 December. Given the shipping times (at least 7 days?) it looks likely to be towards the end of this range, but the holiday parcel traffic may slow things down.

I also ordered on the same date, November 29th, and mine also shows “Processing” with a delivery date between December 11 and December 18.

The holiday traffic was probably factored in. I hemmed and hawed about mine a little too long and didn't get the order in till the 29th, and there was a jump in shipping times a few days before that.

Apple is pretty accurate with their arrival windows.

So, update….my credit card was just charged, and it now says “Preparing to ship”.

Same. My card was just charged and status moved to "preparing to ship", so 11 days (inclusive) from order to preparing to ship.

I finally bit the bullet and ordered a Thunderbolt enclosure (Acasis TBU405Pro M1) and now just need to find a suitable SSD to increase the fairly meagre 512GB M4 Pro Mini base storage.

Looking forward to setting up my new workstation!

Ha! Just ordered the same enclosure last night….. I opted for the 4TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD. 3000/3000 should be fast enough for anything, but I figure I could always move it to a TB5 enclosure when they become more available later on if I need the full speed that the SSD can provide.

EDIT: my bad….. I forgot that I chose the HyperDrive Next USB4 NVMe SSD enclosure instead due to its slightly higher read/writes speed than the Acasis.

I ordered my M4 Pro Mac Mini on December 3rd and the status is "Order in Progress" with delivery expected on December 20th. My card was charged for AppleCare but not the Mac.

Mine has been on "Preparing to Ship" for almost a week now after spending almost a week on Processing.

In my experience, prolonged time in PTS status is unusual. PTS usually indicates that your credit card is being charged and, typically, the product ships within a day or so of going PTS.

That said, the amount of time an order sits in "Processing" status varies depending on Apple's projected delivery date. Products that are on back order can sit in "Processing" for months. My AirPods Max, ordered a month or so after they were announced, sat in "Processing" for months before going to PTS and shipping pretty much immediately thereafter. And I ordered a Belkin head strap (admittedly not an Apple product) for my Vision Pro on Nov 13, with a projected delivery date of Dec 9 (today) - Dec 16; it is still "Processing."

So, when I ordered, my original delivery estimate was December 11-18, then when shipped it changed to delivery on December 13, then during shipping I got an update for delivery on the 12th, and just now got an update that it will be delivered today, the 11th. Nice!

My base M4 Mini + 32GB + 1TB was ordered on Nov. 28 and as of today (Dec. 11) it's still in "Processing."

Estimated delivery from Dec. 16-23.

Mini Pro just arrived…..fun project upgrading from my 2019 iMac 27 ahead! I have a Acasis 405 Pro TB4 enclosure coming, but it’s gonna be hard to beat that Acasis that has a built-in USB hub:

Same here. I am thinking of cancelling.
Wait. You have an estimated delivery of Dec 16-23 and you’re thinking of canceling because it’s not shipping fast enough? Seriously, it could ship on Dec 22 and still arrive by Dec 23, since AAPL uses Worldwide Express shipping. Soooo…. if you’re thinking of canceling because you are rethinking your choice, then go ahead before it goes PTS, at which point cancellation is no longer possible. But if your issue is simply that it hasn’t shipped yet, I think you need to temper your expectations (vide supra).

Take a chill pill, folks. Whether I cancel or not is not really big news :) I sure would have liked to have seen SOME indication by now that my purchase is moving along. It's frustrating, but not life or death.

Well we'd all like that. But that's just not how this goes. Until they build the thing you ordered, it's processing. Then it will go out and you'll get it 2-3 days later. Cancelling because it's not moving fast enough and you're not even inside the delivery window yet just seems silly.
