Once Apple releases an intel computer, how much longer do you think it will continue to release new versions of iLife and iWork, etc. for PPC's? Do you think they will release versions for both processors for a another year - less - or more? Jack
Apple tend to support machines for at least 3 years. So I'd say that they will be releasing PPC software up till sometime in 2010 (based on a gradual x86 roll out).
People update their computers every 3-4 years (generally), so I would say that Apple will continue to support PPC architecture for that period of time, from whenever the last PPC computer is no longer for sale. To be on the safe side, Apple will probably give additional support for and extra year or two. So all up probably about 5 years.
Maybe a better question... ... is when will Apple start to include features that will *only* be in the Intel version of the software? ~Jeff Corbets
