I’m not an expert but how long has other apple devices been supported in real time. example Iphone 4 is no longer supported on ios 8??

IPod

iPad
ATV
Mac’s in general
same in the IOS

Will it be different for :apple: Watch, will it have support longer than the average of 4-5 years.
How long will YOUR expensive :apple: Watch be able to work with the latest iphone-7-8-9 etc

The following devices are compatible with iOS 8:
• iPhone 4S
• iPhone 5
• iPhone 5C
• iPhone 5S
• iPod touch 5th generation
• iPad 2
• iPad with Retina Display

The watch isn't running full blown iOS so I don't think this questions relivant

Not really, the :apple:Watch's wOS is 100% dependent on the iOS Companion App. Any wOS update MUST go through the iOS Companion App.

iOS9 & 10 are all but definites. 11 is likely too I expect, but horribly gimped and slow by that stage most likely.

1st iPod works in the latest version of iTunes, so I think the compatibilities of the companion app isn't a problem.

The OP is asking about how long will it be supported. Not just will it work.;)

Yeah that's what I was saying.
You can use the first iPod on the latest Mac, so you can use your Watch with your last iPhone for a very long time.
