I have always been curious how apple is pushing the pro user cases for the pro phones. Making music videos, shooting cinematic movies, editing videos on the fly in dolby vision etc. They flood us with this stuff that kind of gives me anxiety for not doing it and making the most of my phone. Along with perfect photos of cool hipsters and beautiful people while I take snapshots on vacation and of my cat.

How many people who are into that stuff actually do it on their phones? Let's say you are hired to shoot a music video. And you show up with your damn phone. lol.

Apple: People who buy these are PROS who are CREATIVE!!!
People: We are regular people who just want ProMotion and are suckered into buying the ”best" option.

In Apple TV+ shows literally everyone uses an iPhone pro. I wonder, how are their music video production going? Have they shot any cinematic video lately?

ProMotion and macro were always why I went Pro. Now the macro has made it down to the base model, but the Pro still has the better camera. I am going Pro Max this year so I can more easily use the photo clean up AI, but most of my "pro" editing is done in Photoshop Beta where I have generative fill and neural filters that Apple can't touch yet.

I want the largest sized iPhone whenever I upgrade. That means the Pro Max. I don't use any of that stuff, my phone is just used for calls, texts, light email use and light web browsing. I have computers and other stuff for other things.

If Apple offered its largest sized model in something other than 'Pro' I'd buy that instead. Still too small though. My ideal phone size is somewhere between the Pro Max and the iPad Mini.

iPhone 11 Pro Max user.

Never used the Pro features (have 14PM and 14+) but getting the 16 Pro to replace the 14+ this time because I need AOD, PAAK and WiFi connectivity as I roam.

14+ sucked with AOD. PAAK and WiFi.

I wonder the same thing. Every time I'm ready to upgrade my phone, I think I'll splurge and treat myself to the Pro model. But then I watch the keynotes and they always talk about cinematography, film, and music production...and I realize I don't need those things and end up getting the regular model.

I can't tell the difference between my ProMotion and non-ProMotion devices, so the lack of ProMotion doesn't bother me. I don't need the always on display either. I hardly ever need to zoom in when taking photos.

A few years ago, some friends and I went on a vacation together. They took photos with their Pro; I took photos with my non-Pro (including some night-mode shots). We created a shared album to add our photos to and they were surprised to see mine looked just as good as theirs. They felt like they've been duped into thinking the Pro was so much better. They've gotten new phones since then and ended up getting the regular model after they realized the regular model still met their needs (and also liked the lighter weight).

Pro is giving you access to the best iPhone hardware. That’s not exclusive to creators. They market to creators because that’s been part of Apple’s top customer segment for decades.

Hello….
The moniker “Pro” us just an Apple marketing term. It doesn’t mean anything —except that it’s the fanciest model.

Pro = Ultra
Pro = GXL
Pro = Extreme
Pro = the most expensive model

I bought a 15 Pro last year and I while I don't regret it, I won't buy the Pro version the next time around. There's just not enough difference for how I use my phone, and while I appreciate ProMotion, I'm getting to the point where I'm done playing Apple's "Pro" game.
