I have downloaded countless apps (probably around 200, so not as countless as I thought) but I haven't found much use for most of them. Even the spendy ones like Jaadu, I'm never in a position where I can't either SSH to my computer or VNC to it from another computer. And I know that from the app store people download waaaay more than they keep.

So I was wondering how many apps you guys keep on your phone. Right now I have only installed 14 different apps.
  • Twitterrific
  • Things
  • Remote (iTunes controller)
  • iTranslate
  • BejiveIM
  • Wikiamo
  • Shazam
  • Now Playing
  • Monkey Ball
  • Touchgrind
  • Flick Fishing
  • Pocket God
  • iDracula

*And I'll add this to the question:

How many apps do you think you've downloaded, and how many apps that cost money have you deleted?

When I had my iPhone I kept 11 apps on it.
AIM (free version)
Air Sharing
Facebook
iEasyCamera
Mocha VNC Lite
NetNewsWire
Now Playing
Pandora Radio
Remote
Shazam
Weatherbug

I tend to be a bit of a neat freak, so on my iPod touch I have a total of 32 apps, 1 full page of games and another full page of miscellaneous apps. A large majority of the apps I don't use but I keep them on there anyways just so that it is nice and neat looking.

The apps that I use most frequently include:
Blocks Classic
Trism
Monopoly Worldwide (kind of)
BeejiveIM
Facebook

Answering the new question, I've probably downloaded around 60-75 apps and don't think I've deleted an app I've paid money for. I tend not to make sure I really will use the app before buying it if it costs money and even if I end up not liking it, I'll leave it in my iTunes library on the off chance I will end up wanting to use it again.

I usually have my iPhone full of apps and have to delete ones I don't use anymore to make room for new ones. I hope Apple fixes this limitation in 3.0.

Don't have an iPhone, but the touch is close enough right? :p

  • Remote (iTunes)
  • Remote (Keynote)
  • Kindle (Even though I carry my Kindle around)
  • Currency Pro (no ads~same great app)
  • Google Earth (love it)
  • iTrans NYC (I paid $15 for it and now it's like $4 :()
  • TwitterFon (never used it)
  • Bejeweled 2 (another one I paid $10 for and is now $3 :()
  • Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D (Paid $10, now $6 :()
  • Hero of Sparta (good game, but I still like God of War a lot more)
  • Monkey Ball (It's weird to play—bought it day one, played it only once)
  • MotoRacer (I need to stop buying games day 1 and never play them)
  • Save Benjis (Came in handy a few times)
  • SimCity (Lots of replay value)
  • TumiNeko (AKA MewMew Tower: Game rocks)
  • X-Plane (Got bored of it)
  • TapTap (never played it)
  • Copter (Still haven't played it)
  • Myst (Crazy good game~I'm getting nostalgic playing it)

I have a lot of other apps on my computer, but that's mostly it.

----

And to answer the question:
1) I've downloaded 131 apps
2) I don't delete apps off my computer, but off my device, maybe about $50 worth.

I don't even have 2 complete pages of apps on my iPhone.
Nor do I. After starting this thread, I deleted a little more. Now I have the default apps on the first page, followed by twelve 3rd party apps and the Contacts app (how I hate the contacts apps!) on the second page. That's five empty spaces, with only two pages.

I keep these installed:

BeejiveIM
Skype
NYTimes
TWC (The Weather Channel)
Air Sharing
Cube Runner
Easy Wi-Fi (at&t)
Google Mobile App
IM+
Koi Pond
Last.fm
Monkey Ball
NetShare
Oregon Trail
Shazam
GV Mobile
Epicurious
Stickwars
Urbanspoon
AP News Push Test App
Remote
Google Earth

The only app i always keep is facebook. I have bought a few games and I will put them on the phone if I know I will be bored. Usually the only games that are decent cost money. There has been a lot of new ones from EA and Gameloft that I want to try. They always have good titles. I always go through phases where I don't want any apps but the default and then I will go through a phase where I want ever app on my phone but then I realize how rarely I use them.

AIM (Cool, but I don't ever use it because of facebook chat)
Air Mouse Pro (Cool application, but I never really use it)
Asphalt Elite Racing (Awesome game, I want to try NFS though)
ATT myWireless (So helpful, should be built in to phone)
Block Breaker Deluxe 2 (Fun, classic)
Blocked (Best game ever, you will get addicted)
Bubble Bash (Bought it thinking it was something else)
Crash Bandicot Nitro Kart 3D (First game I bought and it is awesome)
Dictionary.com (Never used, probably will help one day)
Facebook (Good app, not much to say)
Guitar Rock Tour (Fun, but gets old)
i.TV (Nothing good is ever on TV so I dont check anymore)
Pandora Radio (Good)
Sim City (Wasn't as fun as I remembered when I was younger)
Slacker Radio (I like this better than Pandora)
Super Monkey Ball (I suck at this game and always give up)
Tetris (Once a class always a classic)
Urbanspoon (Use to never use, but now I use sometimes)
USA Today (I use sometimes)
The Weather Channel (Never used, weather app on phone is fine for me)
Remote (Use to use it all the time when I had my airport exrpress by the stereo)

Gah I feel like an idiot you guys seem so much wiser with your cash. I've probably wasted $100 on apps I didn't keep.

Yeah, that's pretty dumb (no offense).

I have probably spent a total of $25 dollars on apps, one of them was $20 - it's on the dock.

I have the same issue. But right now I think I've struck a happy balance. We'll see how long it sticks. Right now I only have less than two pages of apps, but sometimes I like seven.

I have exactly 3 pages of apps on my iPhone including the built-in apps. I've probably deleted about 5-10 off my iPhone. Even then, I rarely use most of the ones I have on it now. I just find myself only downloading apps I know I will need or enjoy.

This is all I have. I used to have three pages, but page three was all games. I found that I was hardly playing games, so I took them off except for two. I hope you like it.

You don't have to keep them, you just have to enjoy them for as long as you use them.
That's true. And I did use the ones I paid for a while. I beat most of the games and I initially used omnifocus, but I didn't like the Desktop version as much as things so I switched, and I have used jaadu vnc a few times to adjust some torrents while I was in the kitchen away from my keyboard.
