Inside your mind
Just an interesting thought. They dont all have to be Apple computers. Heres my rundown:

We have 8. I personally own three of them - an iMac, a MBP, and an HP Laptop. My mom owns a MacBook and an HP laptop. We also have a netbook, an old Toshiba Laptop, and a crappy '04 Dell Desktop.

Lets see...

I have the MacBook Pro and a old Windows PC.
Mamma Has Dell Computer.
Dad has HP Notebook for work, Windows PC, and Toshiba notebook.

So right now about 6 fully workable machines.

We also have a old toshiba laptop and 2-3 torn down machines, but these computers are not in use and are most likely going to the trash.

What's a computer? Is my TiVo a computer? Apple TV? BluRay? Wii? My NAS (which runs Windows Home Server)? iPad? iPhone? DS? ....

There are four devices currently in use that are based around an Intel processor and have a keyboard, mouse and display and are used for general purpose computing. So I'll take that as the minimum.

Someone at work was just commenting that his Audi had 56 separate microprocessors (computers) in it. I hesitate to think about how many embedded processors are actually lurking around sight unseen.

Suddenly, I dont feel so bad about having so many working devices. ;)

Good point. If were counting entertainment, add a Wii and a PS3 to my list, as well as 2 iPhones (mine and my mothers) and an iPad.

living in plastic storage bin hell.

working, or in pieces?

10+ working, 20+ in pieces, and then the whole "what's a computer thing" for about a dozen more. i'd say 50+ easy on the low end as a guess.

always collecting/building/fixing and glad i've no more storage room or the total would be higher.

There's two computers here at all times, one is my sister's HP Pavilion and the other is my MacBook Pro. My dad has a MacBook that comes and goes between home and work, so I guess you could say three.

I'm driving the MacBook in my sig. I recently replaced my wife's PowerBook g4 with a black MacBook '08. My oldest son just bought himself an iMac 27".

The PowerBook still works, but nobody uses it. My younger son, when he's not using mine or his mother's, just plays his XBox or his DS Lite. (I guess we can lump those in if we are including entertainment devices.)

4. My MacBook, an old Dell, Toshiba laptop my Dad uses for work, and my Mum's Vaio netbook. We also have an ancient Medion desktop but that doesn't really count ;)

Oh man, this really suprised me..9!

I have a MBP, and an EEEPC Netbook; 4 Between my parents and sister, 1 in the kitchnen, and that is hooked up to a 50" TV monitor. Oh and also a pretty old Dell Inspiron thats atleast 4 years old.

Seven!
My Macbook.
My Dad's Macbook Pro.
My Dad's partner's Powerbook (soon to become a Macbook Pro)
My sister's HP something or other.
My brother's Acer something or other.
My old G4 466Mhz thingamajig.
My dad's old G4 1.25MDD which is now mine.

All of which get used :)

Of the top of my head:
  • 3 Mac laptops.
  • 4 iMacs.
  • 3 other desktop Macs.
  • 1 Mac Plus.
  • 2 PCs (1 over clocked)
  • 1 HP-71B

If they count:
  • 1 iPad
  • 2 Newton 2000
  • 3 Newton 2100

Depending on how you look at it, it's 14 or 20 computers.

I think that my wife would prefer that I don't have as many computers. :(

Four. iMac, old Dell Inspiron laptop used for playing Age, my old MacBook Pro, and my new MacBook Pro I just got two days ago (quad core i7... The thing is quite speedy)

But six if you count the two old Windows POSs that have been stripped down to a few bare components and don't turn on.
