I ran a MacAfee Whole System Scan last week, and cut it off at 511k files and change. Half a Million Files. What can I use to go deeper and scan for and erase all of those files I don't want (and possibly get rid of some executables--malware to boot).

Please don't do that. Your computer exists for you to use and enjoy. You do not exist to maintain your computer.

Never use anything McAfee! Ugh!
Horrible software and completely unnecessary.

Let's all go back to Windows PCs and run bloated AV software to suck the life out of your machine, while paying for the privilege.

Sorry, I just hate McAfee for multiple reasons (as you may have guessed); yours is a fair question.

How long is a piece of string?

Depends on what programs you are running as some of us are into music, videos, movies, serious photography and on and on and on so the answer to your question is difficult. Support what the other two have said about McAfee. Suggest you give Intego Virus Barrier a trial. It is freeware and will look after malware.

OS X (and OS 11 and OS 12) have A LOT of files...

One app I use is "Monolingual" to clean out all the unneeded language files.
Works on Intel Macs, not sure if it still works on m-series Macs.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR RESPONSE. But it is deemed Irrelevant. I don't ask questions to 'service the needs of others.'

I know that there is SOME App out there that would tell me what the Files on my system are, and let me delete undesirable and Totally Unnecessary Files off of my OS.

I"m running Catalina. Surely there is Some App that I can find to do this.
