my case cracked when it fell from my bed about 4 feet to the ground

My phone is abused. I drop it at LEAST 2 to 3 three times a week because I'm clumsy, and I don't pay attention. We're talking 3 to 4 ft drops on hard wood/asphalt/concrete/and the occasional plush grass. I've got some pretty beat up cases, but not a scratch on my phone.

Dropped it way to many times to count. No significant damage little scratch here and there not bad for a 3GS purchased on release day.

my coach dropped mine on a tennis court. dropped on the screen, but miraculously survived without a scratch!

My wife was kneeling and as she moved to get back up, her iPhone 4 slipped out of her pocket and fell about 1.5-2 feet to the ground. The back glass shattered. Apple's tech support was surprised when I told them it was the back glass as it is manufactured from the same glass used to make helicopter windshields.

I'll post a picture after I get home and have a chance to see it.

As you probably know, it was *initially* thought on release of the iphone 4 that both the front and back were the functional equivalent of "gorilla glass" (Corning's registered trademark). However, this was soon shown not to be the case and it was only the front. I do not know why Apple tech support do not know this. Is the back harder or more shatter-resistant? I don't really know.

Dropped once on concrete and just got a scratch on the side of the glass by the metal ring. Also dropped down a flight of stairs, but no damage from that.

I dropped my i4 one time last summer while I was outside talking and I was tipsy. Thankfully the phone was in an iFrogz case and the only damage was done to the iFrogz case. Pretty much snapped, but I was glad it was the case and not the phone. Haven't dropped it since then.

I've dropped my iPhone 3Gs so so so many times but I have it in an Otterbox case so the phone is practically impeccable. A few nicks and dings but I'd rather have those on a $40 case than a $500 phone. :D

Dropped my 3G dozens of times.Usually concrete.
The next to the last drop out of my shirt pocket, the phone was saved from concrete with a desperately skilled, saving catch between my wrists.About 3 hours later it fell out of my pocket unnoticed and the screen cracked.
Put a silicone case around it After the screen cracked (still works but gets weird sometimes).
My next phone will have a case to be sure!
