I average about 10 hours I would think, but I am doing my final year dissertation so I do have a good excuse :p

What is boinc?

it's a really cool program that lets you donate your processor time for scientific research. for example, you can participate in the SETI program, climate prediction models, or even developing new drugs in a project called "rosetta". My computer splits it's spare time between all these projects.

6 hours a day, maybe?
It depends on what I have to accomplish that day, whether it is research, typing a paper, or just browsing the web.

Seeing as i'm still at school, 2-3 hours, but I sooo wish the computers at school were mac!!!

The computers all my school are ALL Mac:D MacBooks, MacBook Pros, iMacs in the office, XServe as the school server...

Though I only have 2 more weeks at this school then I'm going to another school that uses WINDOWS PCs. I'm pretty pissed about that...:(

Is there any way to read how long the harddrive has been on, like the number of battery cycles? That'd be the best way to see how long your Mac has been on.

How many hours a day are you on your Mac?

Now I don't feel so bad. Good to know there are others like me

Monday thru Friday at school easily 8 hours day on my MBP. Evenings maybe 1-2 on my iMac. Weekends depends on how much homework I have but average I'd say is 5 hours a day Saturday and Sunday.

alot. Basically whenever I am not sleeping, eating, or taking a shower. I dont have TV, so I watch shows on my mac. School kinda requires me to be on it alot though

Before my job changed, I was on anywhere from 12-16 hours a day.

Now, it's more like 5-6, and most of my time is spent online from home.

I'm probably only about 3 - 4 hours per day. Often more on weekends if I'm not working. I'm wondering if there is some kind of program out there that would track the usage stats of a mac though? Perhaps something that logs how many hours per program per day, or anything of that nature. Does anybody know of something like this? I tried a couple quick searches and didn't see anything promising.

Hmm... let's see... I'm a teacher, so I actually have to, you know, teach a little. :D I'm probably on my iMac here at school a couple hours a day (all of my planning and lunch times, plus checking my email and some news sites every time I get a few minutes break). Once I go home I spend the rest of my evening staring at these "glowing rectangles" - either my 17" iMac (too small), my Acer/Win 7 laptop (not a Mac :(), or my 50" plasma (just got it, and easily my favorite). Does that count? :D All in all, I'd say have around 5-6 hours of computer time, probably 8-10 if you count in the TV, too.

Probably a good 12-14 hours per day 7 days a week. All of my work and most of my gameplay is done on the mbp.

It used to be more, but now I am happy to say it is around 2-4 hours per day. Glad to have my life back. When I hit the road for a year in 2010, it will be more like 2-4 hours per week since I am shooting all film..:)

Reminds me of

This thread reminds me of a little "article" in an Onion paper a few months back...
It was about how "Majority of Americans spend majority of day mesmerized by magic rectangular screens of all types and sizes."

Seriously though, I am on a computer 8 hours a day, 5 days a week at work. I get home from work, Do personal projects about 2 hours a day on my computer, spend the rest of the time either taking pictures of watching movies/playing video games, then sleep. Sometimes I snowboard or skateboard when I feel like rolling the dice with an injury...

So yeah, I'm pathetic. I would have absolutely NOTHING to do or any way to make money if my magic rectangular screens decided to stop working.:confused::confused:

I'm on mine from 8-5 M-F (minus an hour or two per day for lunch/meetings). And it's plugged into an external monitor, keyboard and mouse, so the only onboard keyboard/trackpad/screen remain off.

I leave it in the briefcase at night so I can give attention to the girlfriend/friends.

On the weekends I'd say I'm on it a total of 1-3 hours, if at all.
