This morning, it took me 13 minutes to get ready. Brush my teeth, pee, shower, shave, dress and do my hair. Grabbed a bun in the kitchen, ran out the door and fight for a parking spot in the train station. :D

I'm up for an hour and a half before I'm actually at my desk at work. I like to catch up on the news, cook breakfast and try and figure out what else I can do with my life besides going into my job. This is the time I fantasize about walking past the entrance of my workplace instead of going inside.

do what i do and dont sleep ;)

'bout a half-hour or so I'd say.. I get up, make coffee and do a few leftover things in the house. my brain gets going for the day pretty quick.

I am awake for about 40 minutes before I start work. I wake up, take a shower, NEVER shave, brush the chompers and I am out the door in about 15 minutes. Then it is a 20 minute commute to work via the bus or train. It probably still takes me another 20 minutes to wake up after I show up to work. I am in a zombie like state for the commute to work.

I try and wake up for 8am. This gives me fifteen minutes to dress, pack my laptop into my bag, pack anything else i may need for the day, brush my teeth, use the toilet if necessary, get my shoes on and leave. I don't eat breakfast (although i'm thinking i should start...). I walk the 25 minute walk to college, and chill out in the canteen with my mates for the remaining time until 9am lessons.

Unfortunately I often forget to wake up, and as such have to rush my way out of the door to power walk the now 20 minute journey to college.

To sum up: one hour.

Depends on whether I'm working that day. If not, usually an hour or two. If I'm working that morning, a half hour or so before I'm out the door.

I'm normally up no more than half an hour before I have to leave, there's just no point being up any longer than that. This morning, after oversleeping, I was up and gone in less than 5 minutes, I was impressed :p That's how boring uni life has become...

I work from home, this morning I started up at 3am

. So...it was about 10 minutes between bed and work.

I wake up at 6:15 (When my alarm goes off), I roll out of bed, go into the bathroom. Wash my face, brush my teeth, wash my face again all in 5 minutes (It's morning, I'm half asleep. Can't keep track of time, so I brush for like 4 minutes...) Then, I put my contacts in, take a dump, wash my face a couple of times, grab clothes from my closet. That all takes about 10 minutes. At 6:30ish, I get in the shower. I'm usually downstairs by 6:40ish. At that point, I turn on the T.V (If not already on from my parents), and eat while watching the news. I'm usually done eating by like 6:55ish, so I have like 15 minutes to do anything...which usually is still watching the news. Then, at 7:05ish-7:15 I leave for school. (Depending on if my parents are dropping me off, or if I'm walking). I usually arrive at school at about 7:20 (10 minute walk, but there's an intersection in the way, so I need to wait for the stupid crosswalk light to turn on). Since school starts at 7:30, that gives me enough time to sit down, prepare myself, and get some of the work that we'll be doing in class that day done. (My first period is Chemistry, and I know all that stuff. Second period is Programming, so when I enter, I usually come on MacRumors in that time).

Class is usually at 8, I try to get up at 6, but hit the alarm usually until 6:30 or so.

Coffee, light breakfast and then on my way to school, which is 5 minutes away.

Within an hour from waking up I'm out the door, on my way to school. But I'm on school holidays at the moment, so if I don't have something planned for the following day, it takes anything between 2-3 hours to go and get officially ready...but if I have something officially planned for a certain time, school or no school, I'm normally out the door within an hour.

I used to wake up an hour before I need to leave the house. That was plenty of time for my morning routine and to make coffee and toast (or something) to take in the car for my commute.

For the past year or so, I've changed my morning habits. I wake up approximately 3 hours before I start my day (which, these days, is studying). I use the extra time in the morning to listen to NPR, read the news, eat, drink coffee, make some calls, email, etc. Ever since I started to do this, I find that I'm more focused for the rest of the day.

My ultimate goal is to be able to wake myself up another hour or so earlier (so I'd be waking up around 4 hours early) so that I can hit the gym before my day starts (nowadays, I go to the gym in the late afternoon).

Similar situation as mine except I've never worked at 3am. My goal is to never get up before 6am.

I've never been a heavy sleeper, no more than 6 hours a night, and my morning routine from childhood, where my mother would wake me before she went to work, dictated getting myself ready for school with plenty of time.

Two scenarios for my workday:

  1. Awake about 6:30. Fix a bowl of cereal, email/Twitter/forums on the computer, shower, shave, dress, and off to work by 8:30. It's only twenty minutes by car to work.
  2. Awake at 4:15 (definitely need my alarm). Some quick computer time, dress, then catch the 5:30 bus ($1.00) to get to work. I kill time by having breakfast at a nearby cafe. Even that doesn't offset the savings in gas. Still, makes for a long day.

Either way, I have to ease into my day. I can't fall out of bed and into my car instantaneously.

on a school day i get up at 6:10 and i'm out the door at 6:50 for the hour long drive i have until i actually get to my school:(. but on the weekends i usually take 2 hours before i actually do anything productive.

The American Psycho morning is actually creepily like most of my mornings, except I can only do two hundred, I vaporize sativa oil instead of drink coffee, I don't go to work and I've already made a majority of the money I'll make in my life. I'm usually up at 5:30 but my day-to-day doesn't really start until about 9. Being in a rush doesn't suit my personality, never has.

I'm up and gone in 20 minutes, so I didn't vote. Heh.

I shower at night, so I don't have to bother with that in the morning, and I usually have a good idea of what I'm going to wear the night before.

I get up, urinate, shave, brush my teeth, get dressed and I'm out. I don't do breakfast either.

I work with an older guy (67) that is up four hours before going to work. He actually does most of his shopping around 5-6am when necessary.

Crazy old man. ;)

Depends on what you mean by 'start your day'. I usually get up, have a glass of water and study for about three quarters of an hour before breakfast. So you could say 5 minutes or an hour and a bit.
