So I looked into the history of Apple iPhones since I'm a new guy in this zone :))
I'm wondering how many iOS versions will take before iPhone X is presumed obsollete...
So we have:
iPhone 2G - iOS 1,2,3
iPhone 3G - iOS 2,3,4
iPhone 3Gs - iOS 3,4,5,6
iPhone 4 - iOS 4,5,6,7
iPhone 4s - iOS 5,6,7,8,9
iPhone 5 - 6,7,8,9,10
iPhone 5c - 7,8,9,10
iPhone 5s - 7,8,9,10,11

So the first 2 iPhones had 2 main updates, then the next 2 had 3 main updates and the newer ones had 4 main updates (except iPhone 5c)...So judging by this iPhone X will get iOS 12,13,14 and 15...

And I have another question? Will iPhone X and 8/8plus have the same lifespan? Will be something simillar with iphone 5C and iPhone 5S?

Looks like 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 will be a likely life span on paper but the actual performance later on is anyone's guess.

My iPhone 4 became practically unusable once I upgraded it to 7. Thankfully I had already got my 5s by then. My 5s was on 10.3.3 when I traded it in a few weeks ago and it was still delivering good performance. I guess it escaped the throttle treatment that some 6, 6s phones got.

+1 version every other year:
5s 7,8,9,10,11,12
6s 9,10,11,12,13,14,15
8,X 11,12,13,14,15,16,17

:D

Or maybe not. Who knows with Apple?

Safest guess is up to iOS 15.

5s will not get iOS 12..
People said the same thing about the 4s and iOS 9. The truth is only Apple knows. The 6, iPod touch, (and 6s while throttled) are about the same power wise as the 5s so it's not that far fetched. Could go either way.

6S will be supported much longer than 5S or 6.

You do realize not everyone’s experiencing throttling right? My 2yr old 6S with original battery showing 93% capacity gives the identical GB scores at 3% or 100%.

Where did I say everyone is experiencing throttling? Plus I'm also referring to Low Power Mode.

As for the 6s being supported longer, I hope so.

Up to iOS 14. If it gets iOS 15 there will be so many software features unavailable to it by then, which is why I predict iOS 14 will be the limit. We could also see a dramatic chip change that will rule out iOS 15
