I've got 3-4 maybe but I am off at college now and the only one I brought was my Otterbox. Kinda interested in possibly getting a battery case soon..

Took this photo a while ago (pls ignore the poor filter). Anyway I'm not even gonna bother counting...

...holy moly - that is truly excessive...!!!!!:eek:

I thought I was bad :

  • 4 various SGP cases: 2 Slim Armor cases (2 different colours), an SGP Tough Armor and an SGP bumper
  • 5 different Element Cases (1 genuine Sector 5 Custom Design studio edition, 3 Sector 5 eBay fakes and 1 genuine Element Case 'Flight 5')
  • 1 Otterbox Defender in Grey/white (which I bought specifically to protect my phone when I took it on holiday last year)
  • 1 Belkin see-through 'snap on the back style' case
  • 1 genuine leather Apple case
  • 2 eBay aluminum bumpers (different colours and both never used?!?)
  • 1 'The Snugg' iPhone 5 pouch

....and yesterday, I ordered 2 extra colours (just the backs) for the SGP Tough Armor :rolleyes:

....I must be mad!!!!! :rolleyes::p

I emailed spigen direct and they said the coloured backs weren't for sale! Where did you get them?

They are for sale, check their site or their amazon, they have the tough armor back plates up for sale.

Ok, first and foremost I do get it. I was one of the "3+ Cases" folks for a LONG time, and not just for iPhones either (although I think it was the first phone that people really felt obligated to buy one for).

Now though, I've been naked for almost 3 years, and will NEVER go back.

Why? Because the math now that AC+ exists (for the U.S. at least) makes spending $30 on a case (let alone $30 on MULTIPLE cases) downright silly.

1) AC+ is indeed $99. It's pro-rata refundable if you upgrade every year though, and is a MUCH bigger selling point than a case if you don't want to go through the hassle of a 5 minute phone call requesting that refund and just want to transfer it instead.

2) Yes, it is $79 per "incident" IF you have one. That's a big IF for most, and something I haven't had to utilize (and yes, there's still the original $99... no, I haven't forgotten about that... but I did get $46 back last year, and it averages to about that for each plan if you upgrade every release). But even if I did drop my phone in the toilet, for that $79 I'd get a cosmetically flawless replacement that had never been in said toilet. Can't say that even if it was in a lifeproof (and even if the phone survives, if you use that case again, well, ewww...).

3) I get to enjoy the phone as Apple intended. It feels great. It looks great. It makes it easy to clean, works with every accessory, and makes things we take for granted like how the buttons depress (in a case) a NON-issue.

4) It covers OTHER things for a full 2 years that DON'T require $79 fees for replacement. People have abused this to get a new phone (why costs are going up), but legitimately it is something that has value, even if you don't utilize it. Battery acting up 1.01 years in? It's covered. It's like a bumper to bumper warranty that also covers negligence for a $79 fee.

It's great for someone that gets a new iPhone every year, but it's an absolute STEAL for someone that keeps theirs the entire 2.

Look, you can keep supporting the industry that charges $29.99 for a .40 (or less) piece of plastic and keep telling yourself it's "protecting" your phone, but really, if you do drop it on concrete do you trust that case to be foolproof? I trust AC+ to be. What about dropping it in a lake? I'm covered. Do you trust your LifeProof case? Really? Even with all the documented epic fails out there?

OR, take the ultimate path (one I'm even scared of) and don't buy AC+ OR a case. You'll still be better off with a $229 replacement than a case IMO, but only if you're willing to take that risk (the gain just isn't big enough to not spend a few bucks a month to me, but not for all).

The WORST option, really, is buying a case. :D
