Hi,
A friend of mine is an appoholic

We are talking about 310 apps on an 32gb
iPod touch 4g

Now the iPod starts to be a little slow, when typing, launching apps, apps crashing, etc

So, it's ok to have that many apps?

Thanks
Oliver

If you have to ask how many is too many then you probably have too many. There is no way your friend uses all 300+ apps thats just silly. But it won't hurt the device. Just might cause it to run a little slower.

There's no limit or acceptable amount of apps to have. 300 is excessive, but if he wants it, then power to him. I currently have 102 apps on my 32GB iPhone. I don't find it that much unless I use my friend's iPod which has 2 pages  If I run out of space, I'll delete the ones I don't use (which are most of them) but right now I have about 10GB left. Its all good.

I don't think there is a limit to the number of apps you have, except for available space. I remember reading somewhere that if you use all eleven home screens and put all apps in folders completely filled you can still add apps to the device and find them using Spotlight.

not that big...

682 apps in folders... and i only use infinity blade!! too lazy to delete them.

Thanks for the replies. There are 330+ apps and when opening settings its slower. Also when entering notifications too. And also when switching apps.

I think the only way to know is to delete all apps and then restore from iTunes. Angry Birds does not save the scores in iTunes, so maybe I can delete all other apps.

I didn't think you could even get that many on apps on the phone.

if you multiply the 12 apps per folder by 16 folders per page, you get 192. times that by the total 11 possible pages, you get 2112 app limit per ipod. 682 apps takes up abt 20gb of my 32gb touch tho, so im deleting A COUPLE! :p. and im not even jailbroken yet. (but im gonna!)

Plus the four apps in your dock.

Plus the apps you can have and find through spotlight.

No such thing as too many apps. 300, 3000, 10,000 - download and use as many as you want. Enjoy, it's your device.

300 apps? That's too many, who can use it one by one, that's waste the spece I think.

No one will force you to add more apps than you want. But you don't get to dicide what's a waste of space for others. There is no such thing as too many. It's up to the user to decide. What next, are you going to tell me my iTunes libary is too large cause I don't listen to all the music every month?

We are down from 340 apps to 184 apps, and the iPod is faster now. For example when doing: tap on App store, Updates, Update all, enter password.
When entering the password, it takes like 2 or 3 seconds to display the typed letters, now is normal. Now you type and you see the letters.

Also, when going to Settings it opens a little faster. Before there was too many icons in the home screen of Settings.

Before even the jiggle was slow. And now is faster when entering or leaving the jiggle mode.

HTH

Nope, I just said if I had so many apps, it's a waste of space for me. Had I ever force anybody to delete their apps?

And about the music, I think it's different from apps. I also have downloaded about one thousand songs in my computer as collection. When someday I want to listen, I will sync some them into my iPod.

What's more, I think that guy had told us his ipod had run a litter slower, and some apps crash. I want to suggest him to delete some apps which is useless for him. We can collect the apps in computer and then install in iPod when we need. Most useless junk comes from apps, and it's bad to iPod.

As you see, I had used some words like as I SUGGEST, YOU CAN, I THINK, not I FORCE YOU, I BELIEVE, I DECIDE TO etc.;)

I have 259 apps most of which I don't use, should probably delete them but its still running smoothly
