Just wondered how many of you have the crooked return key on your new MBP SR?
I have a week 25 with a crooked return key but it seems to work perfectly, so not too concerned.
Anyway of straitening it myself or am i best leaving it alone?

how do you find out what week it is?

the only key on mine that is slightly crooked, if that crooked at all, is the home key/<-- key

    Yes!

I've had 4 MBPs now and every one has had a slightly crooked (the top needs to shift to the left just a fraction) and slightly raised return key. I also noticed this on the display models at Regent Street.

My 4th one is slightly better than one or two of the previous ones I had, which were more noticeable. I can certainly live with it but can't quite figure out why they can't get it right!

I've had 4 - all returned (for various reasons). The first three had seriously wonky return keys. The last was better - in line, but a little closer to the right edge of the keyboard surround than to the keys next to it. I bet this is a UK problem only. I believe the keys can be popped off easily and reseated, but you should call apple to confirm.

My other laptop computers (a white iBook and a crappy HP) all have perfectly straight keyboards. It's ridiculous that almost every UK MBP has this minor defect.

Sorry, couldn't resist. :p (and yeah I know that's a US return key but I wouldn't have been able to very poorly Photoshop a UK one)

But seriously, it's a key, and it's... er... crooked!

In your serial number, the digits in places 4 and 5 tell the production week, if I remember correctly.

No crooked keys here but my space bar is a little squeaky? Does apple have some kind of deficient in making keyboards?

no crooked return key but i have a weird C key...it doesn't have the same finish as the rest of the keys. It isn't as smooth and it feels slightly rough. if you look at it an angle, it doesn't reflect light as well as the others.

Hehe, my return key has actually become a little crooked, though I don't remember it being so when new, in the way dcv describes.

I certainly don't think it's something worth making a fuss over - though it's the kind of thing that I'm likely to get looked at a few years down the line before my AppleCare runs out, if I can be bothered.

Mines slightly sloping on the right side. Only noticeable because I look too hard but I do get paranoid that Im going to break it.

I can't work out how to push it back inline.
