In OS X Lion, are you using the new "natural direction" for scrolling still.

I've been using the "natural" scrolling and I am pretty much completely used to it now.

My main problem is that the trackpad setting is linked to the mouse setting for whatever reason, and on a mouse it makes absolutely no sense. Hopefully with enough bug reports they will allow different settings for mouse and trackpad.

Also on the "old" setting with the trackpad swiping through desktops feels wrong.

The other issue is when using bootcamp I am always trying to scroll the wrong way, but luckily I am typically using a mouse while in Windows.

44 yes vs 44 no

I'm surprised that even 50% still use the natural direction!

I would be open to trying it again, but like others mentioned, it's too difficult to go back to my other Macs running Snow Leopard. Perhaps after I upgrade to Lion on my other Macs...

i didn't like it when i used the beta4 and the gm but eventually tried it again and now i'm used to it... as others have stated it doesn't make real sense on the mouse but oh wells

It is hilarious at work though.. The other day I had to give a presentation and had to show a document... Using a mouse on an old PC laptop I constantly mismanaged to move the screen in the right way...

So much so that I was "threaten" to be given a notice to show why I should still have my employment whilst not being able to operate a scroll wheel :).

Perfect example of how this natural scrolling thing is screwing with people. Why not leave well enough alone? Its an industry standard. Yes, they improved it when they added two-finger scrolling on the trackpad, and made the scrollbar invisible in Lion. But why change it completely? I don't think anyone ever complained about regular scrolling, or thought, "hmm why doesn't this go the other way?" It just doesn't make sense unless you're directly touching the screen.

Because Apple has never been satisfied with the status quo (thankfully).

That isn't true for everyone. I, and many others I know, had issues with trying to scroll as if we were still using an iDevice. The more I used my iPhone and the less I used my Mac the more of an issue I had. The natural scrolling option completely solved that.

I left it on, in fact after 2 days on the MBA I had to go out and get the track pad for my iMac vs the magic mouse. I think the feature is awesome. :D

One of the TIPB podcasts had a good analogy. The new method is like pushing a piece of paper up while the old method is like pulling the desk towards you. Another point to consider that was brought up on the Hypercritical podcast is that just because its option in Lion doesn't mean it will stay that way, i.e.. you might want to get used to it now because in 18 - 24 months you might not have a choice. Another point broght up on the hypercritical podcast was is the It doesn't make sense argument based on anything other than it goes against the way I'm used to doing it. In other words if you were introducing someone to a computer for the first time would they really find one way more intuitive than the other?

I've stuck with the new way for since upgrading to Lion and its starting to become second nature, though I find its still far more natural on a trackpad than a scroll wheel. Its also given me a good reason to give the MagicPad that I bought a year or so ago a second shot.

It depends if your mind is moving the screen or the scroll bar. For me it is the scroll bar so the very first thing I did on installing Lion was turn it off.

I very much like it on my trackpad (like scrolling my ipad's screen) but prefer a mouse wheel in the 'standard' direction.

Wow, 50/50 votes on the poll.

I immediately felt something was wrong after running Lion and so I turned it off. I could very well get used to it, but having been using the "old" gesture to scroll, and having the option to keep it that way, I didn't think twice.

It really doesn't feel right with a scroll-wheel mouse like the Logitech Laser Mouse I use, I instantly disabled the feature and went back to the regular scrolling. I can see how this would be more natural with a trackpad, but it just isn't right with a scroll wheel on a mouse.

I'm not sure how to reconcile the direction, when I am still stuck using Windows for work-related things..

Given I have to use several different windows and linux computers daily, the 'natural' scrolling can sometimes feel pretty unnatural. I've left it on, it's not really a big deal either way.

I've managed to confuse myself pretty badly scrolling through big excel sheets on Windows PCs after using the Mac.

I thought about turning off natural scrolling when I first installed Lion, but I decided to give it more time. Now natural scrolling feels 'natural' to me and the Snow Leopard scrolling seems odd. I've gotten use to it and I like natural scrolling. What I did do was turn on the setting that allows me to see the scroll bars. I need to see my scroll bars. That's the only thing I've changed in the Lion settings.
