I'm just curious, I have always been very hesitate towards facebook, mainly because I'm afraid of what information they could be accessing without my knowledge. I know there are ways to specify what facebook can use on your phone but I'm just curious as to how many people use it.

Also since I don't want to make another thread, has anyone else's iPhone 4 been slow lately. I'm just wondering cause sometimes mine takes forever to load certain apps, get out of particular apps and just not what it used to be. I suppose it could be because I have like 1 gig left on my device, but would that really slow the device down dramatically. Also I can't turn my phone off due to my lock button being stuck, so maybe that's why as well since i can't reset it.

I'm really wanting to upgrade right now to the 5 mainly because my phone is in need of it bad, but I still wanna wait and see what the next one could possibly have. I'm just curious as to if there is any 4 owners who are waiting to upgrade as well. Even if the next iPhone isn't a big step than the 5, I still may get the 5 instead because of it being cheaper. Hmm so many choices haha.

you can have as much or as little integration as you want. you can have it sync with contacts and calendars or choose to not allow it to. also, you can turn off the location service for it and not allow it GPS access. you can run the app, stand alone, and not have it integrate with ios at all.

i have it installed and logged in, to allow posting directly from ios's notification menu however have all contact and calendar sync turned off. i dont need all of my FB friends showing up in my iphone contact list.

It took me a while before I decided to finally join Facebook. However, you can avoid privacy issues with Facebook if you take a few simple steps.

- Don't use your exact real name. (yes I realize this is against FB policy. They won't care unless you cause trouble or use a very obviously fake name)

Misspell it slightly, use a (believable) nickname, etc... The idea is to keep employers and the like from being able to find your profile.

- Make the profile completely private and invisible. You can do this in privacy settings.

- Just be careful about who you friend on FB. Your friends and family? Sure. Employers, coworkers, people in your professional life? Probably not the best idea. That's what LinkedIn is for.

- Try not to become completely dependent on FB. Use alternate communication channels to keep in touch with people you care about. Some people have let FB become the entire Internet for them and this is bad because if the site goes down or they decide they don't want you around, you're screwed.

I've managed to keep FB separate from much of my real life by doing this. Good luck and enjoy!

I cant speak to the FB, as I'm on my device, but just not that interested in it, so never use it.

As to your question about the phone, both the items you listed would help a lot in speeding up your device. Fist of all the only having 1 GB left of space can hurt your device dramatically. I can't explain why this is, as I don't know, but I know my wife often complains about her phone or ipad being slow, and when I look at them she has about 1 GB of space open. So I clean it out a little so she has 4-5 gb open and room to add some more to it when she takes pictures and wants to add new apps. I mostly do this by removing pictures, videos, and podcasts from here device. Then close all the apps, and give a hard reset. That has fixed it every time she has had the problem it.

I know you say the sleep button is broken, so you wont be able to do a reset on the device, but just cleaning it out and closing the apps will help.
