I have the 15 Pro Max. I've been wanting a smaller phone for awhile now but I really like my 15 Pro Max. It still has 103% battery health after all this time and I'm reading 700+ page books on it - it has replaced my iPad for me for the most part (I only read books on my iPad).

Biggest reason why I don't think I'd get a Pro Max again is the price. Finances aren't what they were years ago - I can't see myself paying $1800 for a phone again.

Issues I have with downsizing to a Pro? Heat, battery life, and screen size. But I badly want a lighter phone that is more enjoyable to hold. In reality, the screen sizes aren't a HUGE difference but the weight difference is noticeable.

So ... planning on keeping my 15 Pro Max for a few more years... Considering going caseless with a skin... we'll see.

People in my circle of family/friends seem to be wanting larger phones because we're all using our phones more these days.

All valid points. I assume that if I used to a pro Max, it will be hard for you to go down. I would think the 16+ or the 17 air would be good for you? I do agree this promax is more captivating.

I went from the 13 Pro Max to the 14 pro. The PM models were simply too unwieldy to use one-handed, especially in camera mode. Loved the 14 Pro feel but choices in cases were slim to none, and I really missed that big beautiful magnum screen size.

So my son is the beneficiary of the 13 Pro Max and I traded in the 14 Pro for a (nearly free - just pay the tax) 16 Pro Max. Ahh! Feels like home!

You got a 16pm? Thought you didn’t like PM?

May do the same. You have the max now?

Yes I have a 15 pro max. I’m downsizing for sure - just not sure I’ll get an Air or go with a regular pro. If I go back to a pro, I may just get a 16 if the camera stuff looks as ugly in person as it looks in all the mockups. I’m definitely not a fan of what they’re doing to the phones, but if the Air is just the right size, I’ll overlook it.

Haha yes I agree the new pros look kinda ugly. Might as well get a pixel.
I’ll be curious to about the air I think the camera will be fine. I think people sometimes get a little overboard about it.

I did since all the features are the same, and it was the best decision I ever made, I never drop the smaller phone nor does it twist or flop around in my hand. I do admit there are times when it's fun watching videos on the larger screen, I have a plus that I held onto for that, but I'm always relieved when I reach for the smaller phone.

I'm intrigued by the air since it'll be slightly smaller, but unsure about battery.

The 15PM was my first Max iPhone and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to a smaller one.

I really do miss the smaller form factor for pocketability, but my eyes are getting worse and I also do find I use my iPhone more than before (I almost never use my iPhone at home, I use my iPad Pro or MacBook there) so the larger phone makes more sense.

Also since I don’t use any case, it’s not so bad, my wife’s 15 pro with a case is larger than my phone.

I’ve been using a skin on my 15PM since March of this year and I love it. It doesn’t add bulk to my phone and the weight has been awesome. Plus I can change the color of my phone whenever I feel like it.

14pro max to 16plus with a 16 pro briefly in between

I like that it’s lighter and superior battery life

I also was sick of the triple camera aesthetic

60hz is a downgrade but it’s in line with my 15 inch air and iPad mini 7th gen

After the 15 max to 16 max, i find the 16 pro is my size.
Backed up by a Mini 7 ipad.

The 16 pro is my backup plan if I don’t like the 17 Air, or maybe just the base 17 since it’s likely not getting the hideous revamp.

went from 15 PM to 16 Plus and love it.
Son has 16 regular and battery life similar to my Plus.

(16 Pro Max claims highest battery ever but I haven't seen that with any colleagues)

I had 14 Pro (regular size) and absolutely hated it. Daughter now has it. It's VERY heavy and poorly balanced; 15 PM is/was much better - titanium isn't just marketing, it's real.

Not quite the same but I went from 15 Pro to 16 ProMax then back to another 15 Pro. Zero regrets and much prefer the smaller device.

I have a 15 Pro Max and will be downsizing to the 17 Pro. This was my first Max and, as much as I love the extra battery capacity and screen real estate, I realized that it’s a bit too unwieldy for my tastes.

For my use I feel like the difference between the standard pro and max doesn't matter, they're both too small to load desktop sites etc. Which is what I need from a larger device, and also why I can't wait for a folding iPhone.

However I feel the max size in my hand and in my pocket so I'm really looking forward to getting a non-max size again.

I planned to go from a 16 pro max to a 17 plus this year but since there’s no plus model this year I’ll be staying with the pro max. Just for the battery life.
