This crap is really pissing me off!

Constantly losing my connection and having to manually reconnect again and again and again. I really can't believe Apple hasn't addressed this. Am I missing something here?

How many others are having this problem?

I was having trouble until I switched my router from mixed b/g/n to just g (have iPhone 3G so n only would not work with them). From what I read, mixing b/g/n causes issues. Since i switched to g only, I never have any drops what so ever...

Once we get our iPhone 4 phones this week, I will switch to n only and see how that goes since all wireless devices in my house are wireless n compatible (MacBook, iMac, iPhone)...

Still having issues, talked to Applecare on Friday, the guy indicated that we should see a fix soon. I pressed for a date, but all he said was "soon".

Thanks for the suggestions! I found this on the Apple support site:

I like the recommendation of turning the screen brightness up. WTH! LOL!!!

At home, on my Airport Extreme - works perfectly...

On my Sprint 4G Overdrive unit OMFG it constantly drops out.

On most Wifi spots while I'm out and about it drops constantly too...

They REALLY need to get this crap fixed soon before I walk into an apple store and throw a hissy fit!

I was having horrible issues in the first few days and nothing fixed them (flashing new router firmware, static IP address, changing wireless channel). Eventually I did a long power cycle on my router, turned it off for 10 minutes and turned it back on, and it's been fine ever since. I'd assumed that the total router reset I got when I re-flashed the firmware to the latest version would have done a total reset of the router state but obviously not.

I don't forgive Apple though, everything else in my house was working fine with my router as it was, it was only the iPad networking that seemed incapable of dealing with the situation so it does seem more fragile than everything else in my house. I'll be happier and more confident when they do push out a release that strengthens their handling of the WiFi connection.

    No issues

I've had mine since 5/26 and have had no wifi issues anywhere. I have occasional wifi problems with my Grace net radio but my Ipad is fine even at some distance from my router, as up at our pool (all devices work-- my laptop, my husband's phone and desk top, my old Palm PDA but the Ipad hooks the fastest and with no problems). I had it at the library, B & N, DT with public wifi, used It with my husband's Palm Pre Pous mobile hotspot. Haven't had an issue yet.

I have to enter my key about 15 times a day. Did all workarounds but nothing helped. Good news is that when people come over and ask what my keys is I have it memorized :)

I have an overdrive though don't use it with my iPad now that I've switched to a 3G model. Try changing your security from WEP to Mac address filtering. Supposedly it's not as secure, but it seems to hold a more stable connection for the iPad.

Be careful to name the devices with short names and no spaces when entering in the Mac addresses for approved devices. You only has to do this once, no more keying in of the security code over and over!

I still have wi fi issues. I'll be playing a game like solitaire or iquarters when suddenly it asks for my wi fi password. I just cancel it and ignore, when a minute later it will ask what network i want to join, then it will join my network automatically. Happens a few times a day.

Never an issue. Brought mine (and my wifes) on a Med cruise (with my iPhone) and the iPad was blowing the iPhone out of the water for what it could not only see but connect too.

At home I had never used wifi in areas I now use it with the iPad, so a simple adjustment of where my wifi router was fixed everything. I would have never noticed with a laptop or iphone because I never really used them the way I do the iPad.

I'm not saying some don't have issues (especially since a fix is coming out) but my gut tells me 95% or better of the complaints arent' the iPad but something else.

    Just sayin'....

I'm thinkin' if Apple is offering a fix, it could be the IPad.

    Wifi issues JUST started?!?!?!

I am on my 2nd ipad. Wifi model was has since been sold. I have had my 3g for 5 weeks. It was fine until 3 days ago.

Now, I am constantly losing the network.

I haven't done a lot of research until just now find this thread first.

Two things do help. One, is to Renew my lease...seems to keep me from loosing sync. The other is to power cycle my router.

WTH?!?!? I have installed a few apps...but nothing crazy.

Thank goodness for 3g...I don't tend to notice the dropped connection except when it takes a while for a page to load up.

Anybody else have their all of a sudden start messing up? Any possible catalyst that may have caused this?

Like I already said... I have no doubt some of them are, but not all of them is my bet.

I also bet Apple's fix won't make everyone magically happy because of it. Hopefully it does for those who have been dilligent enough to try other things... move routers, try different settings on routers etc.

I will say one thing - BOTH my iPad and iPhone were blown away by the PC another person had with them. They could see and connect to way more hotspots. Perhaps the iPhone suffers from a simiar fate. There were times the PC could see a good 20 different hotspots where the iPad would see maybe 8 and the iPhone 3-4. We were in many different ports and used the equipment all over Europe and it was pretty consistent that way.

Mine works flawlessly at home. Out in public, different story. It sucks badly. I end up turning off wifi and using 3G a lot of times.

My iPad disconnects and reconnects all the time. (wifi thingy in status bar goes in and out often). Once in a while it will disconnect and not reconnect. Once in a while i get the "connecting" blue box appear and it'll ask me to select a network. Luckily i don't have to retype my security key. Doesn't happen enough for me to hate my iPad but it does happen enough to be a little annoying.

Mine did it once or twice when i first got it but hasn't done it since.

It did it at first on a normal wireless g router, once I got home it's never dropped a beat on my wireless N.
