my yahoo mail and gmail have the same password. other than that, everything that needs a password has a different password.

2 nonsensical passwords (random numbers and letters). Clearly not enough judging by the amount you lot have though!

Five different passwords, but I have probably about 3 variants on each of them depending on the requirements of the site or network I'm using them on. Some require mixed case with numbers and some even limit the number of characters which is why I have a variety.

Let's see... something like 12+ by one type of count, and many more actual strings:

  • 1 for my local OS X account
  • 1 for my router
  • 1 for regular work accounts (single password setup)
  • 1 "root" (as in a root/basis word) for general / insecure websites
  • 2 roots for email
  • 1 root for banking and shopping
  • 3 that I and my wife share
  • various combinations of other ones for more sensitive systems
  • others I can't think of at the moment
And then at least 4 PINs that I can think of.

Each root password has a few variations and can then be further modified depending on the site it applies to. Fortunately I've developed a methodology for keeping track of most of the variations, which would hopefully prevent someone from accessing most of my other accounts if they cracked one of them.

About 40-50. The vast majority are 15 character random strings. I use a different password for every account I have and rely on Keychain to keep 'em straight for me.

I use... five, three easy to remember, and two number/letter strings that I randomly picked out.

The passwords I use vary based on the sensitivity of information provided.
