It doesn't have to be Apple, could be any other brand that does similar stuff. (Has a screen, can check messages etc)

So far I only know of 1 ex-coworker that uses an Apple watch. There are a few people who uses "dumb" fitness trackers without screens and that's it.

What about you?

If you were to ask me this question how many I know own smart watches two years ago, I would have said no one. But now today, almost everybody around me that I know, has some form of a smart watch on their wrist. Rather it be Samsung or Apple, they have some fitness/smart watch on the wrist. But primarily, I would say the majority of what I see for both genders, is the Apple Watch.

Tech company smartwatches like Apple Watch, Samsung Gear etc? No-one. Haven't even noticed anyone with one aside from a DHL guy with an Apple watch last year.

That said, pretty much everyone I know has a Garmin watch like the Fenix 3 which does have some smartwatch like features such as phone notifications. Doubtful anyone actually uses those functions past the first week or two of ownership though. Too much hassle.

Our circles are pretty sporty though, trail runners, cyclists etc so they'd go for more serious kit. Apple watch isn't really considered a serious bit of kit. That said, I am getting one for me and the missus.

Through 2015 & 2016 I rarely saw anyone with an Apple Watch on (a lot of fitbits though). But in the past 8-12 months I've seen a significant uptake in Apple Watches.

Two of my colleagues have a fitbit alta (so not the smartwatch), one colleague has an AW and so does someone in the extended family. An ex-colleague had a smartwatch but not sure what type. I've been looking around at wrists since I was planning on getting the AW and I'd say about 1/3 has no watch, 1/2 a normal watch and a few smartwatch or fitness trackers.

I’m see a lot of health care professionals here in Florida wearing AW, I’m not sure why.

Within my family and friends most of them have fitbits.

I work for a very large corporation, and I would say in my immediate work circle I know of about 10-12 others who have smart watches, probably 90% of them are Apple Watches. Most of them are runners like myself, or otherwise fitness focused individuals.

I’m in law and many of us have Fitbits. Within the last year, three, including myself, made (or are waiting for it to arrive after pre-ordering!!) the switch to the Apple Watch. It seems like the earliest versions didn’t quite do enough to convince the Fitbit crew to make the change. I do wish there was an accurate converter app to send your AW steps to Fitbit challenges.

Smart watches are still rare around me. All of them are Apple Watches, the rest are fitness wristbands e.g. Fitbit, Garmin.

Most of my family, myself included all wear fitbits but I have an apple watch on backorder/preorder as my first apple watch. Last time I went to the doctor, a couple of months ago, almost everyone in the office was wearing an Apple Watch and it's a pretty large practice

I don't really notice what watch someone else is wearing. And I don't know what most of them look like besides the apple one. For the more normal watch looking ones - I would not know if it was a smart watch or not unless I happened upon someone typing or speaking into it

Most people I know wear the basic activity trackers, like Fitbits, or nothing at all. Very few of my friends have smart watches. I see smart watches mostly around co-workers and business associates. I haven’t kept count, but I think I’ve seen more Android variations than Apple watches in total. At the same time, I will say that all of the women I know who have smart watches have Apple Watches.

I'm the only one of my immediate family -- so far. My wife is close to getting one -- either an AW or a Fitbit with HR is what she wants.

Probably a dozen of my former coworkers have them by now. One of my closer friends there will have his new Series 3 soon after owning both the S0 space black and S2 Nike models.

At my current job, we can't bring anything with Wifi, so the AW is out (I leave mine at home and wear my Seiko or Rado instead). I see some Fitbits, though, along with regular sub-$1000 watches.

Out and about, for smartwatches, it's always the AW, Fitbit Blaze, and an occasional LG or Samsung. They're becoming nearly as ubiquitous as regular Fitbit-type fitness bands.

Of my 10 closest friends 8, 7 AW, one Fitbit, 2 none. But most of them started with a Fitbit. In my area the are a dime a dozen, even kids that work at Mc Donald's wear them. Medical people wear them. Seniors wear them. I really do not go anywhere where I don't see them.
