rotated them so they sat further into their ear canal!

Sitting here for hours thinking how poor the bass and depth of sound was on these. Was by accident I sorted it out. Was messing around with the controls and pushed one in further and then the penny dropped once I heard the difference.

These actually sound really good! So much joy, I was resigned to them sounding a bit blah but thinking I'd just get used to it.

Posting this because I bet I am not the only one to not fully have them placed right when they first get them. Hope it helps someone somewhere someday!

Having had the Powerbeats Pro for a few days, I'm really surprised that anybody could think that the AirPods sound quality when playing music is better. I'm sure some of it is down to how well (or not) AirPods fit your ears, but that aside, there's just no comparison in my opinion.

Yes these are definitely a big step up from AirPods and AirPods 2. I did see someone on the forum mention they thought AirPod sound quality was superior, but I think like you say it's a fit issue.

One of the major reason I could not ever get the Airpod, it may be a wireless wonder, but after all the quality is just like the free bundled one.

Any chance OP ever used Bose or Beats offerings ..

I use a Bose sound sport free and will love to know how better is the power beats pro

I had Beats X before Airpods last year and they lasted less than a week! Apple sent me a warranty repair which I eBayed right away. Really wasn't impressed with sound or durability.

Only Bose I've got are the Sleepbuds so can't really comment on how your Sport Free's compare to the Powerbeats Pro!

For me it sounded like crap until I used a larger tip which created a tighter seal in my ears. Now the sound is rich and bass heavy instead of sounding like I was hearing earbuds that were half an inch away from my ear canals.

Yeah the tips make a huge deal too. I tried all the sizes and it’s amazing how different the music is with each. It’s all about finding the ride size to get the required seal. I’m still loving the battery life on phone calls too.

A big step up from AirPods, but the noise isolation is worse than BeatsX, even with a perfect seal.

Have had my Beats X for a long time and they are still going strong, they get abused too. I'm not a fan of beats headphones by any means but the Beats X dont have the huge undefined bass that most of the other headphones in the beats range have, they actually sound really well balanced with a small increase in the lower frequencies.

Funny, after reading this I was like hmmm? My original set of PBP that I bought a few weeks ago were less then impressive, no matter what tips I used. They sounded "tiny" compared to my 1st gen AirPods and wasn't very happy with them. I stopped at Best Buy today, picked up another set to try, and what a difference! Much crisper and more bass then my AirPods.

Sucks, cause I think Apple may have some major QA with these off the line. My original set also had a loose hinge on the case, and the right sides buttons were very mushy. This set is put together much better then my previous. Will give them a go for a couple days and decide. Still think they are overpriced. Should be $199 at the most...
