How many pixels thick is MENU BAR?

This is somewhat of a silly question. I was just wondering how many pixels thick the menu bar is on the Macbook (1280 x 800)? I'm wondering because my girlfriend wants to change the hue of her menu bar, and we are just going to augment the wallpaper she's using.

Other than just trial and error, is there some easy way to change the color of only what is necessary?

I just did a screen capture, and mine is 21 pixels not including the black line at the bottom. 22 with it.
