Have ADSL connection:

With wired, almost instantly.

With wireless, a second or two.

Yes as my last macbook would wait 15-30 then connect....hoping my next macbook will be as quick as my Sony 🙂

Almost instantly on my MacBook Pro via wireless.

I'd say it's completely determined by signal strength. I sit in a corner of the house with a weaker signal and it sometimes takes > 10 seconds to connect.
