Just for fun, let us guess how many watches Apple can ship in one flight. Assuming a 4x4 watch box Apple can fit 60 watches in one standard 12x20x16 packaging box. Now next one is little hard without knowing the cargo area of an aircraft and what percentage of it will be filled with Apple watches. Area of box dimension above is 2.21sqft. If cargo area is 15x6x60 ft, then total area is 540 soft. So it can fit 240 boxes.if Apple book 50% area then it is 120 x 60=7200 watches . NOT MUCH.

Anyone with better dimensions for aircraft? That can make lot of difference.

would not be the aircraft as such but the ULD (universal logistics devices) they use for them.
PAG/PMC/AKE/AQF.... the list and sizes goes on

My initial estimate was too out. Just checked Internet and Cargo capacity of 747 is 24885sqftso about 200,000 watches seems more reasonable.

would be highly unlikely for a 747F these days
most likely 777F

If it's FedEx bringing them over that's less likely since they have fewer in the fleet and it gets high priority first. MD-11 with a stop in ANC is my guess for FedEx. UPS will be a 747 without a doubt.

U recon AeroLogic might be involved as upscale happens?

forgot UPS 747, not seen them for donkeys

Actually, only about 50. Angela Ahrendts has ordered these planes to do the shipping. This is why the watch shipments are so slow.

Yeah UPS was 747less for a few years. I'd imagine even wager that AeroLogic will be involved in the lift to Europe.

Based on cargo capacity alone, a MD-11 could carry more than 500,000 watches. However, they might have to carry less than that because of the amount of fuel they need.

I am sure that Tim can accommodate a few watches on his private Lear jet :)

Apple doesn't have a Lear. I'm not sure what they use for their own lift nowadays (they were chartering for a while.)

SJ had a G550 that is now Laurene's (although i think her foundation is listed as the registrant.)

Jony Ives bought the gulf stream...after all, it's made of "al eyoo minn ee yum..."

I wont speak directly to Apple to avoid any issues but as someone who works with shipping, keep in mind that UPS volume for next day and 2 day air takes priority so sometimes shipments get bumped. Also, when it comes to shipping on plane or by truck and rail, there is a cap generally on how much they will put in one load for insurance purposes.
