Ya ya, I know torrenting is wrong and all. Frankly I don't care so I'll ask for people to leave their indignation out of this thread.

How many of you will install the GM upon release and still buy ML when it's released?

I'm going to be downloading the GM once it's released, but am also buying an iMac in a couple weeks, so I'll get a free upgrade to Mountain Lion..

Even though I can't wait for the GM to be released, I'm still going to wait for the MAS release.

Waiting for the full release....My BETA testing schedule is hardware related these days, and I have enough stuff to work on without installing a potentially buggy GM, and having to mess around with any of my Macs at the moment.

Since the GM is with a certainty of 99.9999999% the version that will be released on the App Store, everybody who updates to Mountain Lion will install the GM.

I'll install the GM on one of my machines because I'm currently working on a ML-only software project and want to get rid of dual-booting (as I currently do with the beta) ASAP.

If the GM is stable, I'll probably update my second machine as soon as the final version is out. If not, I'll wait until the first or second point release.

    If I did

Would there be any huge downsides to it? Like... I'm getting it for free anyway (up-to-date program), so I don't feel like it'd be theft, but would it mess with the update process? The last update I got said it was specifically for my Mac. Is that just a lie or something? I'd just want to know before I make a decision, since the improved networking that is rumored to be in there could be great.

In theory if there are no major show stopping bugs the GM is identical to the full-release so there would be no difference for either bugs, updates, or you having waited a few extea weeks for your up-to-date program to kick in.

I would be downloading, but I'm only a lowly iOS dev.

Can you downgrade to Lion if you don't like ML?

I think I'm gonna need to backup my computer before I go through with installing ML which may take forever since I haven't used Time Machine for over a year.

Given the iOS-ification of OSX, ML should be right up your alley. :D

Just install ML on a separate partition.

Or... since you obviously enjoy living on the edge I say cross your fingers, throw a pound of salt over your shoulders and just go for it.

For me I can download a torrent easily but downloading such a huge file from the App Store takes me days.

So I will get the GM and pay for the retail version.

    doing the same thing

might as well install the GM for an earlier try-outs. but definitely gonna purchase the paid version from App Store as soon as they come out.

Q: will i need to install the paid version all over again if i install the GM today? or do i just update it through App Store (since software update goes inside the App Store now on ML)

You're looking at the wrong website then. They're using a tumblr page and they've already uploaded 10.7.5 delta and combo. Check their twitter

Ugh no GM for me, looks like after 3 weeks of having a perfect screen, a few pixels must have died because I now have a tiny 1mm white spot on the screen that is brighter than anything else, yet with the screen off everything looks flawless. Time to bring this unit in for replacement :(

I'd love to install it on my iMac, as Lion is incredibly slow, but I'm worried ML will make it even slower. ML seems to have lower ram usage though, which is definitely what I need.
