Ok before this area is full of threads of people saying their iPad has a yellow tint on the screen. Let me ask this question to the open forum here how many people who got their delivery of the 9.7" iPad Pro first day have a yellow tint on their screen ?

My pre-ordered Rose Gold 32GB has a warm (yellow) tint and my in-store bought Rose Gold 128GB has cool (blue) tint. Colours are more vibrant and natural on the 32GB and more dull on the 128GB. But since I use it pretty much exclusively for research and reading medical PDF's, I will be keeping the 128GB and sending the 32GB back. If I was doing photo editing, I would keep the 32GB. Neither are as 'white" (bright) as my iPad Air 2. I don't need the 128GB storage, but didn't want to grab a 32GB in case it had the same issue. Yes true tone and night shift are disabled, and yes I am fussy/pedantic/whatever you want to call me...

My theory is this is Apple way True Tone of stopping or preventing returns for iPad with Off Colors. You may get an iPad with whites which are too yellow or you may get one with whites that are Too Blueish.
So Apple engineers said lets start True Tone and unless you have this On the device will self adjust not only its yellowy or blueish off display but adjust to ambient colors.

Which is ok But I will still Return my iPad Pro if with True Tone off I don't have Accurate White Because my PC Display Does not have True Tone and it achieves accurate Whites (With calibration) But we Can't Calibrate our iPads

So they will get Returned over and Over Until I get one which is correct. I have done this before to 3 iPads in a row.

Its just a quirk of the manufacturing Process I had to Return and exchange 2 Samsung Note 5's and these use OLED displays.

So I think True Tone is Apples BS way to ignore Yellowish Tinted iPads. Like Hey buddy just turn on True Tone. Which Should not be necessary.

I will have to ask my buddy who is an Apple store employee Trainer if he is getting any information on how to coach employees to Ignore Yellow Tint and encourage customers to Turn on True Tone.

Seriously guys are the screens so perfect this time around ? No yellow screens ? with the night display and true tone disabled ?

I had to return my iPad Air 1 about 5 times due to lack of screen uniformity, lint under the screen, and even a dented screen. Happy to report my iPad Pro 9.7" screen is the best screen I've seen on an iPad. Uniform whites, no backlight bleeding, just gorgeous. I really like true tone's warmth indoors, but with it off, the white balance is very similar to my iPhone 6. Was expecting the worst... Ended up blown away by it

It's not a yellow tint.

It's True Tone ...

I've never minded a bit of yellow tint. I mind when a 25 percent chunk of the screen is yellow and the rest normal.

I opened 2 iPad Pro's (both 128GB Rose Gold) and both had uniform displays. One iPad had a slight shadow at the top of the screen but both displays were uniform. No dust or any other faults. And this comes from a guy, who exchanged the iPad Mini 2 11!!! times :) In the end, I ended up buying the big iPad Pro (screen is beautiful as well) and I'm going to send the 9.7 Pro's back.

So, I went and grabbed another 32GB Rose Gold today - got home and it has a small hair under the screen. :( However, the display was as not warm/yellow as my first one. I still have the 128GB which I am keeping as I really like the screen - so Apple is getting an extra AUD $250 from me. All three iPads had uniform screens.

Yeap, they were TERRIBLE. Like literally.. The displays were white on the one side and ORANGE on the other.. (Not to mention the light bleeding they had). And it seems like Apple is getting it under control with the new Pro's. At least it's getting better ;-)

I don't know about the 9.7, but I got the 12.9 iPad Pro, and already exchange it 3 times, and all of them had that yellow tint on half of the screen, and the other half, a blue tint. It can be distracting when taking notes or reading a book. Might try exchanging again, or just returning it and getting my money back.

Happy you brought this up.

My 9.7" Pro has a definite yellowish hue to it. Much warmer than my 12.9". Really bugging me... Yes True Tone is turned off.

I also had this problem with the 12.9 Pro. Went through three before giving up. Got my 9.7 yesterday and its the same. Top is warmer, bottom is cooler. Its more subtle but def there.

I'm just trying one exchange this time.

Rose gold 32 GB WiFi
Even white screen with no yellow or book spine. One of the best screens I've had and I've exchanged a few in the past for yellow or uneven tints. I got lucky this time. I don't see any dust, dead pixels or backlight bleed either.

Since Apple is now recycling old and selling as new - let's all go back in time - this yellow tint issue must be related to the infamous "glue" - has to wait for it to dry. You know, how they glue the display together. yellow tint is from the glue not drying. Look it up.

they ditched that method years ago, possibly even before the iPad 2-3. look it up.

I am returning my rose gold 32gb wifi + cellular because of the yellow tinge, don't like it at all. Yes the true tone and night shift mode is off. Compared to my 12.9" pro and my mini 4 which both have a nice cool display the 9.7" looked washed out. Colours aren't as vibrant etc. But also there is a spot on the top left next to the glass which is showing bare metal so it was obviously a rush job. Thinking about trying a 128gb instead but don't think I can be bothered.

Mine is actually a touch bluer than my Air 2 with True Tone turned off. But I couldn't tell you what the color temp actually is. A chunk of it is if you tend to use screens skewed cool, everything will look warm, even something that's been properly calibrated. The better way to check would be if we all had color meters and measured the white point directly.

Bump just to say - I had a mid-April 9.7" Pro with some weird shadowing/blotchiness down the left side. Really noticeable on white paper. Got it replaced under warranty and new device is as perfect as can be (or as perfect as I care to look for!). So if you have any issues, definitely worth playing the "lottery" at least once :)
