Crunch time boyos. I have to order and I have to choose between 7 and 7+. I don't give a rat's ass about bokeh and the 1080 res, but I hate the short battery life of the 6S as I'm a power user (read compulsive forum dweller). Currently I have the 6S and the 6S Plus, every time I'm on the plus I miss the form factor of the 6S, every time I switch to it I miss the battery of the plus...

What do?

You need to basically decide which one is more important, the battery or the form factor.

I upgraded from 6 to 7 and as a comparison my typical day would see the phone off charge at 6:30am and be used heavily throughout day. An hour or so Apple Music and Bluetooth in car, couple of hours browsing web, 3 or 4 phone calls, dozens of messages, emails, facebook etc. By around 7:30pm the 6 was usually down at 10% or so. The 7, as I type (9:45pm here) is still at 40%.

For me that's a significant improvement over the 6. How it compares to the 6S tho, I'm not sure!

Pretty much this ! Come on folks, the more feedback the better. Still trying to decide between going from the 6s to the 7, not interested in the "plus" been there done that, just want more battery life from the 4.7 version - so I don't feel I need to compromise, for e.g. Location services switched off, etc..

I always setup my phones from new instead of restoring. Compared to my 6s the battery isn't drastically different. At most I see an extra half hour.

My 6s plus easily had better battery life than my 7 plus. My daughter has the 7 non plus and it's battery life is even worse. On my 6s plus I didn't disable anything but on my 7 I have had to disable everything.

I'd get the sleekest extended battery case for the 6S and rock that. The 7 has a lot of build problems, and for many has not lived up to any of its claims.

In my usage, it is not much better....almost identical despite the purported "2 hours extra" time

That said, I found the 6s to be plenty fine for a day's use....as in it is perfectly good for a whole day (generally have about 7-17% battery life left after a full day 7am to 9 pm...its the same with the 7 for me)

So all in all, they are both solid. The 7 should in theory last you longer but neither seems to be quite as good as the iPhone SE

I think if you're going from a 6s to a 7, you need to ask yourself a) how much the upgrade is going to cost you, and b) whether or not that it is worth the $$ for a very marginal upgrade

I have them both in front of me....they look the same, feel the same and are just as fast at everything as each other on iOS 10. They also both have 3D touch, and a screen that looks the same thanks to the resolution (there are some minor differences but not enough to definitively purport one to be worth the 200$? 300$? 400$? 500$? upgrade it will cost)

I'm sure if the iPhone 6s had the same home button as the 7, they would both register a home button press just as quickly (the 7 registers that faster because its effectively a "virtual" button whereas the 6s has a physical button)

All said though, the iPhone 7 is a fantastic phone...so is the 6s...but go for the latest device unless a headphone jack is important to you.

I am getting approximately 2 hours more usage from 6s to 7. I'm not exactly measuring it scientifically, but I got (with similar usage) 6-7 hrs on 6s and 8-10 hrs on 7 over the last 2 weeks. They both lasted me all day though. I'm very happy with the battery life of the 7.

Some interesting comments. Looking like it's falling more on the side of the 6s than the 7 as it would cost me £350 ($460) to move from the 6s to the 7 (4.7) and I do have the 6s Apple Smart Battery case, I guess I'm tempted because I like having the "latest and the greatest" when it comes to iPhones.

Battery case is a no go, as is any other case. Just to put things in context, I barely get a day out of the 6S Plus, and top up the 6S 1-2 times a day.

Currently using the 6S, took it off charge around 07:00, it's now 12:00 and I'm ~40%, and it's not even a work day.

But then I pick up the Plus and can't actually believe I'm supposed to carry something like that with me. Gets better after a few days, but it still feels cumbersome.

Damn.

loving the battery life and lasts all day and into the next day sometimes.

Might want to get the battery replaced. 79 bucks at an apple store. And turn off background app refresh

What's your opinion about getting a small external battery and plugging in now and then ? That's what I do. I have a 6s+ (had a 6+ for 1.5 years+). Instead of being connected to a wall or having a massive battery case, I just carry around a few small external batteries and place batteries at my work/home so I can plug in whenever I want wherever I want.

https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerC...qid=1475943681&sr=8-10&keywords=anker+battery - This one is in my backpack and goes wherever my phone goes. I can tuck that behind my phone and juice up while reading the news or slide it in my back pocket while I walk (connected to phone).

I have bigger batteries at work 16,000 mAh and a 20,000 mAh next to my bed on a stand.

Never being connected to a wall socket has its liberties. :p

You'll get used to it. 6S+ or 7S+ is better than getting the 6S or 7S and adding battery case.

Adding the Apple leather case actually makes the Plus size easier to handle. Much more grip and then you worry less about dropping it, so you become more at ease with the size of it.

To Apple's credit, for a device of this size, the ergonomics are very good. I had the Note 4 for a long while and while I really liked that device, it was really awkward to handle with square corners and just a bit too thick. As phablets go the Plus is well done ergonomically. And the battery life is tops. I begin my day at 7am and it is very rare that I get down below 20% battery by 11pm. Some days with light usage I'm at 65-70%% and i dont charge till middle or end of next day.

I'd have liked to see Apple do a single device at 5" size or so, but if one has to pick the Plus is much better for a power user.
