man, i find it almost impossible to get my moneys worth of data (2gbs, and ive never used more than 1.25gbs) at the end of the month. but you guys do that and then some, some of you 5x that. wow:eek:

verizon 2gb, no clue about throttling or what it even is.

Usually 300-900MB on AT&T. Last summer I was playing with Google music and pulled 1900MB. Over winter break, I did a ton of audio streaming while driving, and that pushed me up to around 2500MB ($10 overage). I'm on the $25/2GB plan, which is close to $20 with FAN, so it's a good deal up to 3GB. Once I start working, I'll use lower bitrate streaming, and pre-load some stuff to listen to, so I shouldn't have an issue with the 2GB limit.

I use approx 3-4gb/mo. and i get throttled after 3gb on ATT. My throttled speeds are extremely slow averaging around 0.23mb DL speeds! man i wish my work had wifi!!

I have 2GB on verizon and I have to stop myself from using cell data at around the 20th of every month because I run out and don't feel like paying verizon another$10 on top of what they already get. Couldn't tell if I was throttled since verizon's 3g is the slowest thing ever created. I miss AT&T :(

I have unlimited on AT&T with my 4S. I just received my first notice 2 days ago.

I only had 1 day left in my billing cycle so I don't think it will be a common occurrence. Also, this month I had streamed an entire NHL game in HD over slingbox using itether on my MbP. I usually don't do that so I'm not worried.

I keep my iPhone tethered to an LTE tablet for voice and data and LTE speeds (Verizon). So I'll use that data.

1 gb a month unless I'm traveling (stream music and movies) then its around 3 gb.

Tiered 3 gb plan no throttling

Verizon

It kind of sucks because my employer pays for data but Verizon 3g is so slow I'd rather use my own data I pay for just to use LTE.

thats what I was getting at...it just didn't come out right...GSM>>>>>>>>>greater the CDMA (3g data wise)

That's true for AT&T assuming you're within 3G coverage, it has good backhaul, and you're not being throttled.

Often, however, Verizon's 3G has better coverage, less latency so actual web pages (not just tests) load as fast, and they rarely throttle. See below.

3G everywhere with no unnecessary throttling might not win raw speed races, but it's reliable.

so if you get throttled on VzN what do they bring you down to? from .6mbps to .1? just wondering?

Verizon throttles the highest users ONLY during the time that it's necessary for everyone to share bandwidth on a particular crowded cell. If there's no need for load sharing, then there's no throttling.

I'm with 02 (UK carrier). Since they stopped providing unlimited data as it was costing them too much, I'm now on 500MB a month. I usually always exceed this, and most months I receive angry texts saying that I've used 80% of my data allowance. Then they slow down my speeds until my next bill date or until I buy more data to last me until then.

how can you use more than 3GB while throttled? it gets soooooo slow

AT&T or Verizon 3G unthrottled is SLOW. It's not any faster then regular anymore. However, it's so much faster then being on EDGE speeds.

And we can't explain it to you if you don't experience it yourself.

Um, I've gotten 8mbps on AT&T's 3G/4G, and usually 3-5mbps, so I don't know what you're talking about.
