Are you seriously contemplating an allowance in MB????

You know a single speed test on 4G could use 50-100MB depending on speed?

Video on 4G can run between 500MB and 1GB per hour for Netflix or iPlayer....

I based that on checking a few random bills for my current iPhone. Going through them all now to be sure, but looks like it is rarely over 300Mb.
I just use wifi, why not?
I might go higher, but it seems it may be cheaper to just ranodmly buy 500mb for £6 when I need it rather than pay for 1Gb+ each month when I wont use it.

It's your prerogative mate, no one can tell you what your usage is, I'm just amazed that any smartphone user would be contemplating such a tiny allowance, especially with an iPhone designed for media consumption.

I suppose there must be a few users like you who are constantly in wifi range.

How do you stream over wifi when commuting or any other place without wifi, perhaps sitting in a park, or in a hotel with expensive or slow wifi?

I just don't tend to stream movies when commuting and don't tend to sit in parks flashing children or whatever is going on with that :D Only time I'm in parks is when I'm walking/running/cycling..

Really though. I d/l all content at home and when I'm going on a weekender, I load up on episodes and movies, eBooks etc and hit the road.

People have different lifestyles, I'd be really interested in what sort of person streams like 20GB or 40GB or whatever data a month. I was thinking some sort of business power user, but you've opened things up a bit. Someone should start a 'how much do you use, and how...' thread.

I'm only out of wifi when in my car. Surely that is the same for most people?

That said, I have literally just finished laboursly downloading my last year or so of bills and it is higher than I thought. Whilst my average call time is 15.4m and average texts are 81, my average data is 478mb so i think I shall have to reconsider and get a contract a bit more costly. Very annoying as I know I'll end up pointlessly paying for unlimited texts or loads of call minutes.

EDIT: Spoke to EE and looks like pay as you go is better for me. Comparing against past usage it works out the cheapest. Now just have to tweak and try doubling the data usage etc and see what happens with the various options. Don't you just love spreadsheets?

Im on O2 sim-only, and perfectly happy with O2 considering I get great reception everywhere I need it (have a O2 mast right outside my workplace too!).

Unlimited Mins and Texts.
3GB of 4G data.
£16 a month.

I have WiFi at home and at work, so 3GB is only really used when out and about or when I tether to my laptop, and Ive never come close to using it all up!

Oh let's see.
I just moved from EE 3GB 3G because they said my data was 'capped' when it wasn't and I ran up a £800 bill.
No way I'm paying for that.

So now I'm on giffgaff. Unlimited data ftw!

Whaaat. That's mental. Reminds me of the BT phone bill stories from the 90s :D

I'm planning to buy iPhone 6 Plus 64GB on EE for £125 up front and £44 a month. Unlimited mins/texts and 10 GB 4G

Does look like a good deal. I had to put up £180 upfront and £43/month with O2 - for only 2GB data..

I've searched high and low for this deal on the website but cannot find it. Remember guys you can get cashback via quidco.com they're giving 93 back for contracts over 45.99 and 65 for contracts upto 44.99

After making a decision on the amount of data I may need each month I wondered what everyone else has gone for.

Since we have a poll for which iPhone we are all getting/not getting I thought I'd see what our usage habits could be.

Where's the unlimited option in the poll? Thats what I have from O2. Unlimited text, data and 300 minutes. £15 a month.

Unlimited £12.90 per month.

No option in the thread so I'll choose 20GB.

Anyone see any real drawbacks to Threes all you can eat data? I'm thinking of plonking down £66/mo to get the 6+ on it plus the decent insurance. A ton up front I think.

Not been with Three before, moving from EE. The missus used to be with them and coverage is fine in London.

Same as others

Unlimited 4G/3G + unlimited tethering

Old three one plan £15p/m

No matter what the phone I use around 4gb per month. Occasionally when I'm away I use a lot more tethering hd Netflix and super hd when my speed is consistently over 10Mbps which is normally quite often
