I don't baby mine, but I don't abuse it either.

IMO, Apple took care of one of the big potential sources of damage with the mag lock power plug. With my old PowerBook G4, I had to replace two of the power supplies because they got tripped over while the PB was charging. Completely mangled the plug on the power supply. Luckily, neither event did any damage to the PB, but that was the closest I ever got to damaging it.

On my new uMBP 13" the battery lasts so long that I only have to charge it at my desk, which has the cables out of the way. I can surf on the couch or elsewhere without having to worry about someone tripping over the power because it's not plugged in.

OMG, I can't even fathom tossing my computer around, PC or not. So yes, I baby my computers, but mainly my MBP. :) I have to make sure the screen is spotless, the computer clean, etc... But considering it cost me 2 arms and 1.5 legs, it's justifiable:D:cool:

I just blow dust off my notebook sometimes; make sure I never place liquids around it; and don't keep it covered so it can ventilate when I'm using it.

I personally think its silly when people feel like they have to laminate their MacBook with layers of plastics and stupid nanofiber products for everything. Its like the folks who wear the vinyl pocket protectors. Just buy the AppleCare protection plan, you might as well make the investment for a purchase that big anyway.

Don't see how it makes anyone's experience enjoyable as long as they're plucking every tiny stray hair off the screen with tweezers and posting freakout threads like "OMG!111 2MM DEEP DENT IN THE COVER SHOULD I TRY 2 RETURN IT" here every time they have some dumb microscopic cosmetic issue with their computer. Its going to get old and wear down in shape and performance, just enjoy your computer and use common sense.

I keep mine in a Vyper case when not in use. When its sleeping its out on the desk. I am methodical about keeping it clean and how its handled. Mine survived a 4 month trip to Kuwait and Iraq....without a scratch in the aluminum. Still performs like its brand new.

Yes,I baby My MacBook Pro very much
I wash it everyday

Clean the screen with the cloth

And NEVER Put food or drinks near it.

When in bootcamp(Because theres no SMC Fancontrol) I put my office fan on it to keep it cool.

When I take it places I put the case on it

no i do not "baby" my macbook pro..

but im not about to throw it around my house and see if it survives... im always drinking something or eating something near my laptop but i know im not going to spill anything on it because my drink is always far enough from my macbook

I baby it a lot.

I'm also just a really clumsy person. I have neurological issues, so I drop things constantly. My poor eyesight attributes to me running into things or bumping things constantly, and I fall a lot, so I do keep a speck case on my notebook. I also couldn't get my Notebook from Apple. I'm grabbing a new pro in a week and I've had to save up for accidental protection coverage from Best Buy. It's expensive, but Applecare will do nothing because it'll probably have a dent in about a week.

I also have a Moshi clearguard on because I own a siberian husky, and they shed, A LOT.

I baby mine.

  • I make sure it sleeps on it's back.
  • I don't cover it to make sure it doesn't overheat when sleeping.
  • I don't smoke around it.
  • And I co-slept with with mine in the same room but in separate beds until it was 6 months old. From here on it got it's own room.

lol!:D

I baby mines alot, first off i always wash my hands before i use it, i , she sleeps inside this its great for keeping dust of her, and i dont drink or eat anything in the same room as my macbbok pro  am very ocd

I think there's a good reason why people buy a Mac, because of the OS... and of course the sleek design, so I don't think there are many Mac users that "toss" it around.

I for one stop breathing whenever my wife or daughter comes near it.:D

i used to baby it than realized its not as much fun when you stress out at every little flaw.

Protection!? I have stickers all over mine and I shove it into my backpack with no pad or notebook sleeve. I'm not the least bit concerned with resale value or cosmetic appeal.

At first I thought your username was PotHead and said "figured" to what you wrote. Oops, haha

But anyway, do you really have stickers all over it? Do you have a picture? I'm only asking because I am looking for ideas of where a few stickers.

lol, you idiot. You smoke? Yet you're more concerned about a computer than your own health?

Thank god you told him that smoking is bad for your health. He wouldn't have heard otherwise!

To answer the OP's question, I'm still pretty careful with mine. But it's still brand new, so I'll probably get more relaxed a year or two from now.

Right now it's rockin' the Speck black soft-touch case and a keyboard rubber.
