I am going to be a first time ever Mac purchaser so just trying to ge an idea. What have they retailed for in past years as far as 22" to 27" (I believe those are the current sizes)? Have prices remained the same on past refreshes?

Also for a bigger hard drive how much more are we looking at, I'm hoping get at least 100GB is this included in the base model?

Ive read prices have been dropped which is why I'm asking what retail price was when they were released.

Retail prices direct with Apple are the same as when they launched.

I expect them to be very similar when the new iMacs are launched.

You can't get 100GB HDs anymore. Any harddrive you get will be much bigger than that.

That was silly of me I meant 1000GB 1TB

What is the price jump from 500gb to 1tb?

Apple doesn't tend to raise prices with new models, when the new ones arrive expect pricing to be about the same if not identical.

As far a price discounts yes you can get then less expensive from some resellers however as a new switcher I would recommend buying directly from Apple. The reason being is if you have an issue, many resellers do not have the same return policies as Apple. Make sure you check this when speaking to resellers, ask what their return policy is as far as restocking fees, shipping charges, etc. and get it writing!

If there's any movement in price, I would expect it to be downward, but slight at best.

If we get some sort of Retna display the will cost a little more

If they get SSD as a standard item they will cost a little more

If itnot getting either of the above, It should be same or a little cheaper.

I also get a nice 8% off or something, Better pricing than the education pricing as my work company has a deal with apple :D

One thing to remember is this site is called MacRumors for a VERY good reason. Any speculation is just that... speculation however it's uneducated and at best wild guesses. Anything read here about future Apple products should be taken with a grain of salt, that includes features, dates, prices etc...
