I am wanting to get a job at Apple and be a Specialist. I am 16 years old and I live in San Diego, CA. I was wondering how much do you make a hour at Apple ? Please help.;)

I'd assume upwards of $10/hour.

But correct me if I'm wrong, you have to be 18 to work for any Apple Retail Store.

I got $8-9/hr working part time as a specialist when I was there from 2003-2006 during college. I was a pro video specialist as well, which meant I taught the FCP and iMovie courses, etc. I was a Creative before the Creative position existed. And boy do I miss that discount. Gotta be 18 though...sorry kid.

What's the discount like? :)

$11/h? That's crap.

Because it is too high and unrealistic or because it is too low? $11/hr in retail is pretty damn good, most places pay much closer to minimum wage. When I worked for a major clothing brand in their stores I was able to talk to manager up to $.5 above minimum wage, and I was making the most per hour of the majority of employees there.

Well, I'm 19 and I would cry if I made $11 an hour. I work in an ER so I make a little more than that lol.

Aren't you awesome? If you'd cry at that rate then don't leave your job for retail as $11/hr for retail (even the all mighty Apple store) is fantastic.

You have to be 18+ to work at Apple. It was 16, but this is due to the iPhone.

The pay can be anywhere from $8-$10 as a Specialist/Concierge. Genius' can make around $15/h+.

You get certain discounts, but it's limited.

Too low. Then again, I live in Canada where people get paid decently at that age.

Sorry to say this, but you're too young to work at this kind of stores..... I HAVE never seen a 16 year old worker at an apple store:p:D

probably 18 and 19 year olds, but never 15, 16, or 17..:eek::rolleyes:;)

i was working at apple in jersey about 6 months ago... made 13.00/HR and the discount was the best part! 10-15% instore discount ( i don't remember if it was 10 or 15), then online you could order 1 of each item apple makes a year for 25% off, and then the friends and family discount of 15% i think 3 times for each item in the store.

and 16... i dont think they will hire you... remember what your selling, a computer that is already a grand... i dont think that would go over well with customers. The youngest i have seen is 18-19

You don't want a job at apple. apple is one of those arrogant companies that view it as a "privilege" to come work for them, so they don't pay jack ****. You are in essence paying the "Apple Tax" on your own salary. It's idiotic. Go work somewhere else where you will be compensated fairly.

i agree, working at an apple store, 'technical' as it may be - you can do alot better. let's not forget why one works - for money! i'm 17 and work at an entertainment centre - $30 an hour. A job as a genius would be more technical than what i do.
