It's been almost a year since I got my iPhone 3G, and I never upgraded to 3GS due to personal preference (and abiding to my contract lol). It just came into my mind the amount I've spent all in all just for my iPhone alone, and I was quite surprised. To start with, I've created a list of what I bought arranged based on when I bought it

  • :apple: iPhone 16GB 3G $499 :apple:

Accessories purchased:
  1. iPhone Apple Care $69
  2. Griffin Elan Form $25
  3. Incase Black Matte Slider $35
  4. Griffin's PowerJolt Car Charger $20
  5. PS Anti-Glare $15
  6. PS Clear Air Jacket $35
  7. Switcheasy CapsuleNeo Black $30
  8. Griffin's iTrip AutoPilot $75 (on sale)
  9. iMax External Battery $50 (on sale)
  10. Griffin iClear $20
  11. SGP Anti-fingerprint film $12
  12. Switcheasy Rebel Serpent $27
  13. iFrogx Luxe Case $10 (on sale)
  14. Sony CD Clock Radio for iPhone $99
  15. Zagg's Back InvisibleShield $10 (on sale)
  16. BSE Back skin $7 (recent, currently using)
  17. iSkin Solo FX Red $25 (recent, on sale, currently using)
  18. Motorolla S9-HD $60 (recent, on sale, waiting for arrival)

Note: the ones in RED where returned and got credit for

So in a year-long course of having this amazing iPhone, I've spent US $537 for accessories alone - damn! It's more than the iPhone itself  Unbelievable, I never thought I could've spent that much in just a year, still I really really love this device. If I counted my app purchases then that's gonna be a different story, but yeah.. this iPhone can really get expensive in the long run, but the phone itself is worth it. The hunt for the best case, as you can see, really kept me purchasing.

Previous 2G 16GB Iphone, $499 with
Incase slider $35,
dynex headphone adapter $2 best buy clearance,
Invisible shield $15,
Altec Lancing T612 Dock Speakers $200
Total Accessories $252

iPhone 3GS $499 with
Incase slider $35,
BodyGuardz Front Shield (have not used yet, don't plan to) $free
Total Accessories $35.

I don't understand why you would purchase that many accessories for one phone.

i don't understand why you would purchase that many accessories for one phone.

They keep on making accessories that has a WIN label all over it

OR

The hunt for the perfect case (yet as one of the threads said, all cases sucks)

I can honestly say that I've not spent a cent on accessories. I do use a soft case for my iPhone though, but that came with my old iPod Video so I already had it.

3GS for $399
Incase Slider (black matte) for $27.99 on sale at Target
BSE Total Body Shield for $7.99

I'm looking into getting a car charger.

I had all this for my 3G, including car charger, and a Cap Rebel case. So, 2 cases, car charger, and BSE for my 3G when I had it.

3g 8gb for $199

DLO Jam Jacket + 3 Screen Protectors X2(they accidentaly shipped 2)- $19.99
Griffin Wave Case for iPhone 3g X2- $15
SkullCandy Headphones - $12 (on sale at target)
Griffin NuForm Case White - Free
Griffin Clarifi Case - Free
Griffin WindowSeat - Free

they sent me the last 3 free b/c they messed up my phone with the wave.

$199 for the phone +$46 in accessories. i guess i got a lucky with my cases;)

$40 Griffin Graphite Elan form
$30 SwitchEasy Capsuel Rebel White
$50 Speck Candy Shell White-Red
$38 iSkin Solo Black
$45 DLO Hipcase Holster Black$
$35 Apple Universal Dock

Total: $103

Spent $17 on a Switcheasy Colors...

Then had it refunded because it's been 2 weeks and I still haven't received it.

Just got an email saying that they've already shipped the case tho, so I'll be getting it for free.

So, technically, I've spent -$17 (when/if I ever do get the damn thing...) :D

Wow, it seems I'm the second to the highest spent. But I purchased way way more than anyone here, I should start saving heh

iPhone 32gig white 3GS: $299
White Rebel Serpent: $26.99
Griffin generic USB car charger: $14.99
Plantronics Voyager Pro Bluetooth headset: $108.75 (w/ tax)

So, about $150 so far, not including the phone itself. I really want an element case, but the compatibility with upcoming models scares me out of the purchase for now.

All of my accessories except cases I actually bought for various iPods (DLO TransDock Direct, headphones, etc.), but I have purchased 3 cases (Speck Candyshell - $24.99 through Amazon, Switcheasy Capsule Rebel - $30, or whatever they charge, and an Incase Slider for $34.99 from Best Buy.) I'm actually probably taking back the Slider, as I'm liking the Candyshell a lot better and pretty much using it exclusively.

Oh, I forgot--I also got that Power Pack thing they were offering at AT&T on launch day that came with Apple Care, a car charger, and a case, so that was $99.

SwitchEasy Colors case- $17
Speck Candyshell case- $23 on Ebay
Power Support Anti-Glare film- paid $16 with tax, but since I only need one film, sold the other film on Ebay for $7.99 :D

That's it for me! :)

1st Gen
iPhone Bluetooth $129 (worst bluetooth ever)
Dock $29 (I think)
Incase Cover $30 (I turn it into a iPod Touch for my son)

2nd Gen
Dock $19
Incase Slider $35 ( never really use it )
Leather Holster $40 (gave it to my husband to guy-ish)
Motorola Bluetooth headset $50 (After $20 Rebate :))

3rd Gen
Case-Mate Barely There Case $20 (I finally found a case I like)

Wow, it seems I'm the second to the highest spent. But I purchased way way more than anyone here, I should start saving heh

you should prolly do more research before actually purchasing ;)

Ive only got:

Capsule rebel that ive had for almost a year
just replaced it with a incase slider (in transit)

total was around 60 bucks

How do you like the Plantronics Voyager Pro?

Plantronics Voyager Pro Bluetooth headset: $108.75 (w/ tax)

I just ordered a 32GB 3GS but haven't received it yet, so I don't have any accessories. I'm looking for a noise canceling BT headset for using on my boat, so noise/wind cancellation is important to me. What about comfort? pairing of multiple devices? Is this the same as the Plantronics Voyager 855? I can't find any reference to the Pro anywhere.

It's clear after reading these posts that iPhone cases DO in fact suck.

We all spend our money on trying to find the right case!

I'm in this boat too! It's more than I'd like to add
up.
