I’ve seen a lot of people on here talk about iPhone storage and also compare the iPhone’s storage with that of other phones, so that’s left me wondering: How much of the non-Cloud storage do you actually end up using?

I’ve never been the type to store a lot of data or put a lot on my phone at once, and I delete most things as soon as I’m done with them. 16GB on my 6 Plus started to get annoying due to the size of apps and iOS updates and whatnot, but since I got a 32GB 7 Plus I’ve had no issues whatsoever.

What are you guys using your phone for that takes up so much storage? I’m kinda just curious because I feel like the odd one out.

Using 28gb on my 64gb phone. Mostly YouTube video downloads (3gb currently), Spotify downloads (2gb) and photos cache from iCloud (2gb). The rest are apps & app cache which as of late has become quite bloated.

I do think that the 64gb phone is plenty for most users. As you say with the use of iCloud and streaming services you never really need a lot more storage than that. 32gb would be marginal in my case.

My last two phones have been the base model 64 gig and I've barely used past 20 gig on either. I don't tend to use my phone for media consumption / music playback etc so my storage is largely apps, photos and videos

Currently using 16 gig of which 8 gig is used by the OS!!

We all use our phones in different ways so those with the larger storage capacities tend to be those who listen to music, watch lots of videos, take photos etc etc

Exactly. I use google photos and get unlimited cloud storage so I don't need to keep photos on the device storage. Mine is mainly apps. I have the 64gb max and it's fine.
I do miss the ability to put photos, videos etc on an sd card like my previous Note 8, but I'm managing.

For unlimited photo storage on Google, doesn't it compress all your photos to save space? I know it used to, at least, and that's what turned me off to the service. Once the original detail is gone, there's no way to get it back.

So far, it looks like 64gb is more than enough for the majority of votes. I’m looking forward to seeing the results after 30 days of voting.

I’m currently at 15gb of 64gb used. iPhone XS Max.

I was micro managing on my 32GB iPhone 5 (deleting apps, etc). Now on my 64GB 6S, I never do that, and I usually just go over half the storage. Luckily now Apple use 64GB as the base storage, so I only need to buy base models from now on. :)

37Gb on my 64Gb X. And that's because I have some iTunes movies and stuff saved on it, just because I can. I could live with a 32Gb model...

Currently using 15gb of my 64gb storage on my Xs, this includes system too, I only use a handful of apps and a bit of music stored on the device.

12,5GB of 64GB used (iOS 12.0.1 - 8,65GB included).
If I downloaded all my apple music titles and would not use "optimize storage" for photos/videos, it would make 115GB which I used on my former iPhone X 256GB.
iCloud storage 30GB of 50GB used.

Using half of 512 storage on Max. Music, movies take up majority. That way regrdless of where i am i can listen to any of my music and view movies without downloading. No skipping, no lag, no variations due to poor signal or overloaded cell tower or WiFi. At home it wouldn’t matter so much as have good WiFi. But working, driving the signal strength varies so much it got frustrating. Simple solution get largest storage option. Poof, no more issues.

Once I view some movies I erase. But always have my entire music library with me. Music including all my ripped CDs are also in cloud.

Besides that lots of photos which I keep on phone in full format as well as in iCloud. Also moderate amount of apps.

Something I both noticed and read is as you near the storage limit, whatever you have, things slow down a bit. Storage does not seem to like being to near full.

Final food for thought. Downloading opens me up to more snooping. Which I am against on general principle. No one, no company needs to know what I view or listen to and how often.

I'm using around 28G of 64 available. I don't have tons of photos but I do have a lot of music stored on my phone.

I have 16 GB iPaad. Used 50%. I don't use it much.
